Brace yourselves dear readers, for The Gadfly is going to be frequently talking about this Bundy Ranch story for the foreseeable future because what has occurred there is something unprecedented in modern day American law enforcement history and the precedent which is being set is so abjectly dangerous to the rule of law in this country, that if the problem isn't dealt with, and with the utmost of resolute clarity, then we no longer have the right to refer to ourselves as a nation of laws.
The latest information to come out of the welfare cowboy's siege compound is nothing short of hair-raising and astounding. It basically paints a picture of rival groups of gun nuts so fucking rabid with their own little tribal mindsets that they have nearly come to the point of shooting each other down on several occasions over who has the biggest dicks, er, The Gadfly means guns, among the disparate groups.
Observe:
The right-wing media tried to sell Americans on the idea that the antigovernment “Patriots” and militiamen who gathered to block the roundup of Cliven Bundy’s illegally grazing cattle in Nevada were well-meaning lovers of liberty. However, Bundy’s most ardent defenders have revealed themselves to be a volatile collection of hotheaded, paranoid men (and a few women) with big egos and even bigger guns.
The situation at the Bundy ranch, where armed militiamen and “Patriots” are camped out, has deteriorated so badly that competing factions apparently drew weapons on one another during heated arguments.
We wrote on Wednesday about how tensions flared when a paranoid rumor of an imminent drone strike on the encampment began circulating. The team that primarily circulated the drone-strike rumor – Stewart Rhodes’ Oath Keepers – also began advising people to pull out, which sparked the wrath of militiamen.
Those militiamen voted to oust the Oath Keepers, and a couple even spoke of shooting Rhodes and his men in the back, which they deemed the proper battlefield treatment of “deserters”.
Now Rhodes has replied to their accusations in a video in which he teamed up with fellow Oath Keepers Steve Homan, Robert Casillas and Brandon Ropolla (the latter of whom are also affiliated with Mike Vanderboegh’s so-called “III Percent” movement) to attack the “nutcases” that Rhodes said have assumed control of the militia camp at the Bundy Ranch.
Rhodes painted an unflattering portrait of volatile “crazies” at the camp. Most strikingly, Rhodes described some of the threats of violence that have bubbled up to the surface at the camp:
RHODES: Now, when [John] Bidler was dropped on his butt– John Bidler– another guy — some Mountain Man militia guy, put his hand on his gun and said, “I dare ya to draw — draw motherfucker, I’m gonna kill ya.” I’m sorry to cuss but that’s what he said. So they were being threatened. Guys with hands on their guns threatening them. That’s why we told them to get out of there. We knew the situation was this close from being a gunfight, right there inside the camp.
Rhodes later described another close call when guns were drawn and people very nearly shot:
RHODES: And this is the tip of the iceberg of the cluster out there. One of our guys from Montana, Rick Delap, who was there from the beginning — he’s been out there for two weeks in the dirt – the day of this confrontation, I come to find out he had to draw on somebody. Two of the Mountain Men guys came up to him — were aggressing on him. Then one of them ran back to his vehicle and grabbed an AR and came back with an AR in his hand and Rick had to draw on him. And those two ran off. That was this close from Rick having to shoot that ding-a-ling. If that guy had raised his barrel, Rick would have had no choice but to shoot him.

When the leader of the
batshit crazy Oathkeepers is labeling the Militia gun goon guys as "
nutcases," "
volatile crazies," and "
hotheaded paranoids with big egos and bigger guns," then what the fuck does that tell you about these people dear readers?
And The Gadfly swears, he is going to bitch slap the next Fox "News" propagandist or Teabagger politician that publicly refers to these despotic little thugs as "Patriots."
And that isn't all - the gun goon militia guys were not only threatening to use gun violence against the Oathkeeper goons, but also tried to intimidate a local Las Vegas news crew:
While KLAS reporters were gathering information for that story, however, their vehicles were vandalized by militiamen at the scene: “Pistol-packing militia men have blocked 8 News NOW’s access to public roads,” the story reported. “Some poured lighter fluid around our news vehicle while others got physical.”
Blocking access to public roads? Intimidating the news media by pouring lighter fluid around the reporters and their vehicles and vandalizing their equipment? Nice bunch of "patriotic" friends you have their Mr. Cliven Bundy.
In all actuality, these fucking social misfit clowns haven't a clue as to what the word patriotism truly means. Just as they have done with their religious beliefs, they have created an alternate, bastardized reality of the word patriotism, along with equally bastardized interpretations of the
U.S. Constitution that would, back in 1776, likely precipitate a full-scale military attack from General George Washington and his Minutemen upon them for so blatantly perverting and cynically manipulating the meaning of the carefully thought out and crafted wording which make up the underpinnings of that document, American supreme law and the framework of our democratic government.
The Gadfly will ask this question again. If, during the Occupy Wall Street protests, after being confronted by the NYPD to pick up and get out, the Occupiers instead called in a bunch of "friends" armed with sniper rifles, assault rifles and other dangerous weaponry who then proceeded to point those weapons at the NYPD and physically confront them, what do you all think would have been the response? Yeah -- that's right. Bloodshed on a mass scale - and The Gadfly has no doubts in his mind whatsoever that these gun goon militia guys would have cheered it all on with greatly amused gusto.
They are frauds and hypocrites who believe that violence and the threats of violence rule the day even when the law and the vast majority of public opinion do not side with their views and actions. And they apparently reserve the right to employ that violence and those threats solely on behalf of their own movement. If it were up to The Gadfly, he would advise law enforcement folk to take some time to identify every one of these block-headed fucks, and once that is done, freeze all of their financial and property assets, and at the first convenient opportunity start arresting them and putting them on trial for sedition and making death threats against law enforcement officers.
As for the welfare cowboy, Cliven Bundy, who's government mooching lawlessness precipitated all of this bullshit, no more fucking games with that bozo either. Give him one final and fair offer of settling to pay up his federal land grazing fees, and if he refuses, no hesitation -- round up his cattle, sell them to settle the money he owes, freeze all of his property and financial assets, arrest the fat stupid fuck and his equally fat stupid children and throw their fat, stupid asses in the county jail for inciting violence against peace officers, theft of government property and conspiracy to defraud the government, and if any of the gun goon militia asshats tries to interfere in any manner of armed confrontation -- shoot the fuckers.
Can you tell that The Gadfly is a bit worked up about this shit dear readers? The Gadfly is just sick and goddamn tired of these assholes. They are the same assholes who permeate the ranks of the Tea Party, and who even knowing that their views are not supported by anything resembling a majority of Americans, still think they have the right to bully their way around the halls of Congress and force their Neanderthal views and legislation on the rest of the country and block the will of the majority just because they have the heavy handed financial backing of the traitorous oligarchs (The Gadfly is looking at you Koch Brothers).
The Gadfly is going to give one final, Sisyphean effort to try and get people to open their eyes as to the agenda of these bastards and, more importantly, implore them to get off their asses and do something about it. If after putting everything he has on the table, The Gadfly sees that his fellow Americans would rather just sit back being fat, dumb and oblivious to being marched off to the slaughterhouse like sheep -- well then, The Gadfly is going to just give up at that point, not at all unlike
George Carlin did, and then just sit back and watch this country circle the drain of spectacular failure, and basically not give a rat's fucking ass about any of it.
