The Gadfly is pretty certain that never in General John Kelly's wildest reflections, could he have imagined that one day, after having joined the military, dedicating his life to it, attending war college, and commanding U.S. Marine combat troops during war time in Iraq, and serving (albeit briefly) as head of Homeland Security, that his next, and likely last, tour of duty would be as his nation's highest ranked and decorated babysitter for the 71 year old, hyperactive, ADD afflicted rage toddler in The White House:
In a conference call last week, Kelly initiated a new policymaking process in which just he and one other aide — White House staff secretary Rob Porter, a little-known but highly regarded Rhodes scholar who overlapped with Jared Kushner as an undergraduate at Harvard — will review all documents that cross the Resolute desk.
The new system, laid out in two memos co-authored by Kelly and Porter and distributed to Cabinet members and White House staffers in recent days, is designed to ensure that the president won’t see any external policy documents, internal policy memos, agency reports and even news articles that haven’t been vetted.

In other words -- the person whom Americans have installed as the leader of the most powerful nation on earth simply cannot be trusted to make well-informed, rational, adult decisions with news, information and policy documents pertaining to his extremely complicated and worldly important job of governing the nation without such complex and critical material being delicately prepared and gently spoon-fed to him by General Kelly and his staff.
Oh sure -- they'll permit little lord Donny some leeway, like allowing him to play with and wreak havoc with his electric Twitter toy, but apparently the real adult decisions that affect all Americans here at home and which advance America's foreign policies abroad are going to be made by others -- namely those who have the authentic gravitas and intellectual capabilities to actually make the more mature, and level-headed judgments that need to be, and will be in the best interests of the country.
And yet Drumpf's supporters just don't see it. Their blind and unbending worship of him simply does not allow them to see the truth for what it is. God forbid should they actually have to admit that they made a mistake in voting for such an amoral, pitifully unqualified and immature ass-clown to begin with, but even when the evidence is staring them right in the face, as it is now, they exhibit the very same childish behavior as their beloved leader, not unlike the unruly child who when being reprimanded and brought to heel by an elder, plugs his ears, jumps up and down stamping his feet and screaming neener! neener!! neener!!! at the top of his lungs.
It's sad, but more than that, it's scary -- scary knowing that nearly a third of your fellow citizens are are so deeply immersed in the labyrinth of Drumpf's Rasputin-like spell that they are now the proverbial lemmings -- lemmings that are willfully, almost gleefully content to follow him right over the cliff to the doomed, collective fate of possibly all Americans.
