They're insane. They're all fucking insane . . .

I honestly have to say that I thought that I had, at long last, been desensitized to the behavior of some right wingers in this country - sufficiently to the point that their imbecilic, neanderthal actions just did not bother me very much any more - but this story just blew that train of thought clear out of the goddamn water....

Fox 5 News in Phoenix reports that the Scottsdale Gun Club is inviting people to enjoy “Santa and Machine Guns” — a “family event” that lets kids take a holiday card picture with St. Nick and an assortment of high-powered fire arms. Families can choose from pistols, modified AR15′s, an $80,000 Garwood minigun and more. More disturbingly, they’re encouraged to test out the machine guns. Video and pictures from the event show that young children often wield weapons larger than they are. Heartwarming!

What the fuck is wrong with these people?? Especially in a state where less than a year ago, some fucking conspiracy nut with a semi-automatic weapon shot and killed 6 people including a Federal Judge and a 9-year old little girl, left a Congresswoman with a bullet in her head, and would have killed more if he'd been able to pop another 33 round clip in to his WMD before bystanders stopped him.

The mere idea of co-mingling and presenting to toddlers the benign and innocent imagery and pageantry of Christmas, good will toward men, and Santa Claus, along with hands-on playtime with actual weaponry, which is almost exclusively designed to snuff out human life, is so absurdly psychopathic in nature, I just simply cannot wrap my mind around it. All I can bring myself to ask is - what in God's name is in the fucking drinking water that these people are ingesting??

What really infuriates me even further is their justification for it - stating that they are simply sharing their support of the 2nd Amendment with their kiddies - all in the name of family fun and education. BULLSHIT!! It's called indoctrination - something which they routinely charge liberals with doing to their children. I mean - think about it - one doesn't have to be a deep thinker to recognize the obvious question here - what does a 5 year old child know, understand or care about the 2nd Amendment?? Can any one of these psychos explain that to me? Try this experiment yourself -- gather a random sampling of 5 year old rugrats on the street, anywhere in the U.S., and ask them one by one to explain the 2nd amendment to you. I'd be willing to wager that you're likely to get answers with a hell of a lot more references to SpongeBob or Dora The Explorer than anything remotely resembling a coherent statement about the nuances and debate points surrounding the 2nd Amendment.

Seriously though -- the culture of these people (with emphasis on the 'cult' part) is getting to be so far whacked out it isn't even funny any more. The more and more they distance themselves from mainstream society and from the human race in general with their psychotic, anti-social beliefs and behavior, the more I become convinced that we should just finally give them a few states, preferable cold as fuck states like Montana, Idaho and Wyoming, and just put a big wall around the entire place and let them all have their little teabagging, wingnut Utopia.

Crazy fuckers.

Fox News - Thy name is Whore

This is a prime example of why Fox News is an abject joke to legitimate journalists and news organizations, not just here in the U.S., but pretty much throughout advanced society:

Two Controversies Threaten to Derail Obama’s Re-Election Bid

Published October 29, 2011 FoxNews.com

With the controversies over Solyndra and Fast and Furious showing no signs of going away anytime soon, President Obama faces an uphill battle of staying focused on winning re-election next November.

Fox leaves out one tiny, relevant fact in this article, which, if they had any integrity whatsoever, might actually provide their viewers with a true "fair and balanced" article.

Both of these so-called "threatening controversies" aren't really that at all. Especially considering the fact that both of these programs originated in the Bush administration. I dare anyone to search through LexisNexis and provide me with a single written or broadcast article from the Fox empire indicating they treated these activities as a "controversy" while Bush was doing it? Just one.

It's only a controversy because Fox wants to believe it is. They can't fight Obama in the arena of ideas and vision so they have to desperately resort to muckraking and smearing and misinforming. That is their stock in trade - oppose Obama and the Democrats at every turn. And that ideological bent, in and of itself and in a sane world, ought to preclude Fox from referring to themselves as a "news" organization. The fact of the matter is they're really nothing more than a GOP Political Action Committee

Here are links to stories showing how these "controversies" weren't controversial while Bush was presiding over them:

Solyndra:

http://thinkprogress.org/romm/2011/09/13/317594/timeline-bush-administration-solyndra-loan-guarantee/

Fast and Furious:

http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2011/10/new-documents-reveal-previous-problems-with-atf-phoenix-cases/

And please - don't respond to me with your childish taunt - "oh yeah, if Fox is so bad, how come they're the #1 rated cable news channel? - huh? huh? Neener-neener" bullshit. Nearly 50% of Americans believe in the existence of ghosts too [LINK HERE]. All that proves is that there are a lot of fucking morons in this country - nothing more.

The bottom line is - if you are getting all of your information from Fox News re: the Solyndra and Fast and Furious "controversies," which Fox brags has great potential to bring down the Obama Presidency, you are basically getting a doctored, biased history of those issues - and if you want to delude yourself into believing that that equates to "Fair and Balanced" - delude yourself away.

Spawn of Cheney - Thy name is Parasite!

This is uniquely disgusting and infuriating especially considering the fact that Liz Cheney has spent the majority of her post-college, adult life living off of the tax-payer teat by riding her father's slimy coattails into the halls of government. She's the perfect poster child for the rank insidiousness of government nepotism. Not to mention that she's simply an awful human being - but you know what they say - the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

From that bastion of Marxist rabble rousing -- The Wall Street Journal:

Most Millionaires Support Warren Buffett’s Tax on the Rich

By Robert Frank

Warren Buffett isn’t the only rich guy who wants to higher taxes on the rich.

A new survey from Spectrem Group found that 68% of millionaires (those with investments of $1 million or more) support raising taxes on those with $1 million or more in income. Fully 61% of those with net worths of $5 million or more support the tax on million-plus earners.

Buffett, as you might recall, has proposed raising taxes on million-plus earners, saying the ultra-rich pay lower rates than everday workers.

Rich people’s opinions of Buffett remain fairly positive in the wake of his tax-me-more crusade. More than a third of millionaires and ultra-high-net-worths said they have a more positive opinion of Buffett after his tax proposal. Only 19% of millionaires and 22% of the $5 million -plus group said they had a more negative opinion of him after the proposal.

More than 40% of both groups said their opinion hadn’t changed.

In other words, Buffett’s proposal had more supporters than detractors among the rich — though that support declines slightly as you move up the wealth ladder.

It begs the obvious question then as to why Paul Ryan, John Boehner, Mitch McConnell and the Teabaggers are so rabid dog supportive of the the glaringly small minority of super wealthy? Their relentless zeal to give even more tax breaks to people who have absolutely no need for them, while simultaneously increasing the tax burden on the middle class and the working poor, slashing and burning benefits for workers and cutting funding of social programs aimed at assisting the destitute, the unemployed and the elderly, it truly makes one wonder who the fuck's side they are on? Oh "we're on the side of the job creators," they will say. How often does that hoary old myth need to be debunked before it's seen as the load of cockamamie horse shit that it is?

So - to put it matter of factly - we are now at the stage where a majority of Americans, Democrat and Republican, support higher taxes on the super wealthy. A majority of millionaires support taxes on the super wealthy. And yet a small minority of self serving, ideological assholes in Congress are holding up progress on this issue and and in the process preventing America from getting back on the path to national recovery. Why? And what is their motive? And when will the whore media stop pretending that this isn't a situation of a corrupted minority thwarting the will of the majority?

The Occupy Wall Streeters are absolutely fucking right as to why shit needs to change. And it begins with making the job destroying, super wealthy pay their fair fucking share not only for the carnage that they created with their Wall Street gambling sprees and their under-writing of ill-advised wars of choice, but also because they have so rigged the system in their favor that it undermines the chances of anyone else in American society getting a leg up on the economic merry-go-round.

The "job creators" clique needs to be brought down a few pegs to even the playing field. It doesn't get any more simple than that.

One man, one vote? Not such a popular idea for some on the right . . .

I know that it rankles some of my conservative friends when I generalize and broad brush paint conservatives as knuckle-dragging neanderthals. Obviously, not EVERY single conservative exhibits the traits of our cave dwelling ancestors, but it's equally obvious that a high percentage of their ranks most certainly do.

Take this guy for instance. GOP representative Steve King of Iowa. He continually gets re-elected to office even after making statements like this one:

KING: As I roll this thing back and I think of American history, there was a time in American history when you had to be a male property owner in order to vote. The reason for that was, because they wanted the people who voted — that set the public policy, that decided on the taxes and the spending — to have some skin in the game.

Now the way I see it, if you are in agreement with King, that male property owners (overwhelmingly white and wealthy mind you) are the only people who should have the right to vote in America, then you have no leg to stand on when I refer to you as a knuckle-dragging neanderthal.

And honestly -- tell me the teabaggers don't eat that shit up. And sadly they are completely oblivious to the reality that once the ruling elites start down the slippery slope of denying voting rights based on wealth, it's just a matter of time before the teanuts themselves are denied the same right and eventually America reverts back to it's 17th century origins of British monarchy-type rule where Lords and Nobles and royalty ruled with an iron fist over the non-land owning serfs.

And as for those dirty fucking hippies currently marching on Wall Street, and now in several other major cities, they are marching primarily to protest that type of wholesale destruction of Democracy. In fact, in my view, the Occupy Wall Street protesters have more in common with the original Boston Tea Party event and players than the current teabaggers do. Historian Benjamin Carp explains pretty clearly how that is so in this WaPo article published at the height of the tea party hysteria in 2009.

So, while my generalizations of the weak intellectual acumen of conservatives is frequently overly broad, it's not too far off the mark, particularly as it relates to their knowledge of the history of American democracy and the events which precipitated it, nurtured it and made it the foremost formidable and freest nation in the history of mankind. I do not feel compelled to apologize for or further expound upon those views.

Tea Party Nation Urges Monday Night Football Boycott, Backs Hank Williams For Senate

No - that is not the headline for an article from the news parody site The Onion.

An obviously inebriated shit-kicking, right wing cowboy singer goes on Fox and says Obama is Hitler and next thing you know the Teabaggers are promoting him as the next great political leader of their movement (until the moment Caribou Barbie decides to jump in that is).

Aside from demonstrating just how absurdly shallow they are, the Teanuts truly are clueless as to the level of racism that they project to those who don't necessarily see the world with the same black and white viewpoint with which they do.

I mean it's so obvious that I have no doubt, and would not be shocked in the least, that if Mitt Romney were go out and give a stump speech tomorrow and openly call Obama a dirty nigger, he'd have the GOP 2012 nomination sewn up in one fell swoop.

Prove me wrong - please.

"Let him die!" -- Battle Cry of the Spiritually Bankrupt Moral Degenerates....

Ron Paul and the Libtarian-baggers want Americans to look after themselves, their neighbors and their friends and families. On a basic principle level, it is not a horrible idea. On a reality level it is a horrible idea. To believe that churches and charity will or can shoulder the burden of caring for all of the destitute in America is simply fucking insane and is not the kind of thinking that is firmly, much less loosely, rooted in the reality-based world.

If this country would simply stop listening to the people (Koch brothers, teabaggers, Fox Noize, etc.) who don't give a goddman rat's ass about them and pull it's collective head out of it's ass and take a fair and balanced (and no - not the Fox Noize kind of fair and balanced) look at single payer health care they would realize that this country easily has the means to provide health care to all of it's citizens through taxes. We can eliminate the paying of obscenely exorbitant premiums to profit driven, bean counting health insurance company middle-men who can, and do, drop anyone at the first sign of illness or simply deny anyone insurance because of a preexisting illness.

WE THE PEOPLE ARE THE GOVERNMENT whom Dr. Paul and the Libtarian-baggers so abhor. Taking care of ourselves and our neighbors through an equitable system of taxation is the best and cheapest way to insure that everyone has access to quality, basic medical care!!! Ask any Canadian or Brit if they would exchange their "socialized" health care systems for the type we have in America. A 2008 poll by Strategic Counsel found that 91% of Canadians would choose their publicly funded system over America's profit-driven system. Polls of Brits are similarly one-sided in favor of their publicly funded system. The amount per capita spent on health care in Canada is less than the U.S. The amount of total GDP spent on health care is less than the U.S. There is a reason for this folks -- it isn't rocket science!

It is simply unacceptable that many millions of American citizens are reduced to begging for medical care in the wealthiest country on the planet. It is unacceptable that a major unanticipated injury or illness can make one destitute overnight and simply another statistic added to the one that has unpaid medical bills as the root cause of 65% of personal bankruptcies. Who in their right fucking mind believes that this is the right way to do things????

And lastly - what has happened to this country's morals and it's humanity when a question like the one Wolf Blitzer proposed to Ron Paul asking if we should take care of an uninsured young man in a coma or let him die elicits hoots of laughter and ghoulish yells of "let him die" from the crowd? Why is it so wrong to provide for all of the citizens of this country. When did our values and our humanity get so perverted that we can give billions and billions to bankers and hedge fund managers and bomb makers at the drop of a hat, but giving medical care to our citizens is considered a sin?? This is not the America I grew up believing in and loving and I'll be damned if I will stand by idly and quietly as the Libtarian-baggers and their kind destroy it from within.

DOH!!

As badly as I feel for the Texans who have lost land, livestock, homes and unfortunately lives during the monster wild fires, which are still currently burning across the state, I truly have to point this important factoid out to them in the hopes it will make them think and wonder exactly who's side people like their holy-roller Governor Rick Perry are on:

"But while Perry complains about the feds’ response, he and Texas lawmakers have also been called to task for huge cuts to state firefighting resources passed earlier this year. The two-year budget that took effect last Thursday includes a 75 percent slash to volunteer fire departments — from $30 million to $7 million — and a one-third cut to the Texas Forest Service. State Sen. Kirk Watson (D-Austin) said this year’s fires near the capital city underscore the need to better fund the emergency-services districts stretched thin at the outskirts of Texas’ growing cities."

Ok - let's see -- they took $23 million from the state's volunteer fire departments, and several more million from the state Forest Service. One can only wonder if that money might have made a difference, however slight, in the amount of destruction the current wildfires have caused? More importantly, to me anyhow, anyone care to guess where those "saved" dollars went? Do you honestly think a majority of those savings were returned your average Texas middle class family in the form of a "tax cut?" I'd be willing to wager a case of God's sweet cactus juice nectar that around 95% of those "savings" went into the bank accounts of the wealthiest of Texans - you know - the ones Fox News and the teabaggers call the "job creators."

I hope people are learning lessons from this country's ongoing, slow death spiral. Because if they aren't, the flicker of hope that I myself retain which believes that some how, some way America will have a mass epiphany as to how the ruling elites are fucking them over and come to their senses enough to do something about it and put and end to it, is going to be snuffed out - along with a thing we used to know as "The American Way of Life."

TFG

Careful for what you wish for Teahadists . . .

Rolling Stone's Matt Taibbi writes:

"But for the new GOP, compromise of any kind defeats their central purpose, which is political totale krieg. This party's entire reason for being is conflict and aggression. There is no underlying patriotic instinct to find middle ground with the rest of us, because the party doesn't have a vision for society that includes anyone outside the tent.

I've always been queasy about piling on against the Republicans because it's intellectually too easy; I also worry a lot that the habit pundits have of choosing sides and simply beating on the other party contributes to the extremist tone of the culture war.

But the time is coming when we are all going to be forced to literally take sides in a political conflict far more serious and extreme than we're used to imagining. The situation is such a tinderbox now that all it will take is some prominent politician to openly acknowledge the fact of a cultural/civil war for the real craziness to begin."

Taibbi is a bit late to the Right-wing cult watch game, but at least he did finally show up. I've been talking about this shit for years - just ask some of my conservative pals who most have disowned me as a result. They will confirm for you that I was using the words "GOP" and "cult" in the same sentence with earnest frequency more than 5 years ago.

Nonetheless, Taibbi makes a critical point here which I have underlined in his excerpt. The point is -- unfortunately it looks like the right wing is really going to force Americans to take sides in what I fear is not only going to be the verbal jousting of political conflict, but conflict of the physical kind which is the hallmark of a true civil war.

It is almost unfathomable to think it, but this current crop of teahadists truly are sufficiently fucking insane to fire the first literal shots just to start civil discord. I fervently hope it never comes to that, but if it does, I would sincerely advise the right wingers to exercise some measure of control over their testosterone fueled fantasies and contemplate carefully the consequences of the fight they are itching to pick - for whether they recognize it or not, there are plenty of signs that they very well may not only have underestimated the size of their "army," but also the fortitude of it's bravado and the depth of it's support.

"When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross."

With Representative Michele Bachmann’s victory in the Ames, Iowa straw poll, and Texas Governor Rick Perry’s triumphal entrance into the GOP presidential primary, there’s been a sudden spike of attention drawn to the extremist religious beliefs both candidates have been associated with – up to and including their belief in Christian dominionism. (In the Texas Observer, the New Yorker, and the Daily Beast, for example.) The responses of denial from both the religious right itself and from the centrist Beltway press have been so incongruous as to be laughable – if only the subject matter weren’t so deadly serious. Those responses need to be answered, but more importantly, we need to have the serious discussion they want to prevent.

People who care about leaving a viable, functioning democracy for their children and grandchildren had better start paying attention to what Christian Reconstruction and Dominionism are all about and the people involved in it.

GREED! What is it good for? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! HUH!!

I'm of the general view that the majority of Americans are decent, hardworking, honest people who are simply striving for a comfortable life and to leave a good life for their children and grandchildren.

However, it appears that our Galtian overlords aren't on the same page as all of those good people:

Many of the country's largest banks received $6 billion in kickbacks from mortgage insurers over the course of a decade, according to a previously undisclosed investigation by the Inspector General of the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

This is why vigorous regulation is needed of the financial industries and institutions in this country and specifically at this time in our history. These people simply cannot be trusted one iota to temper their greed and do the right thing by their country and their fellow countrymen.

It was Wall Street's and the banker's gilded age greed that brought on the great depression of the 1930's. Some tough regulation came out of that awful and cruel experience. Over the decades however, people have historically forgotten why the depression happened and what the solution was and they have allowed the greed-meisters to pay their way out of regulation jail.

And guess what? They've done it again.

What's the old saying? Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me? . . . we won't get fooled again?...

...or maybe it's just too late and we have been fooled again already . . .

TFG

When will it end?

I read about this sad story as it was in the process of being breaking news prior to my starting work this morning. My initial gut reaction, as has become numbly routine with these horrible events, is to simply observe that - here we go again, just another day in America's shooting gallery.

The initial story which I read appeared on Yahoo! News, and so, probably against my better judgement, I glanced down at the end of the article and took a quick peek at the first wave of reader comments. And I became sickened. In particular by this comment from one reader (which seemed to be lustily echoed by several others):

"I'm fairly conservative and don't like America-bashing but I have to say the guy's (a witness) comment that it happens in third world countries and not here is just weird... happens here a lot... what the people who want to take guns away don't seem to get is that if some of the victims had been able to carry, they could have put the shooter out before he got more people... crazies and criminals will always get their hands on guns, legal or not... the rest of us have to be able to defend ourselves and others"

All I could think of after reading that, other than irony certainly is not that person's forte, was, my god, is this our society's future? Mom and dad or grandpa and grandma want to take their kids or grandkids out for a nice breakfast at IHOP, perhaps celebrating a birthday or a child's school achievements or just to spend some quality time with loved ones, but they had better be either packing Glocks themselves or be desperately hopeful that others around them are heavily armed and ready at a moment's notice to engage in a life and death gun battle? Fucking really?? This is the kind of America these people want to live in? Fucking really???

Our society is mind-numbingly sick. It is sick to it's very core. Our national soul is grievously ill when that Yahoo! commenter's viewpoint is the predominant viewpoint after a story like this emerges.

Admittedly, I really don't know what the most equitable answer to this crisis is. I have an idea or two of where to start, but I honestly believe that many of the same people who agree with that Yahoo! commenter would probably just as soon put a bullet in the back of my head than actually have a sane and reasonable conversation about such subject matter much less agree to any level of compromise about it.

What I am fairly certain of though is that America, if it doesn't address this diseased culture where armed violence is an acceptable method of dealing with conflict, then eventually this beautiful experiment of democracy that has benefited many the world over since it's inception, is certain to die from the destructive side effects of that illness - and that does not bode well for humanity as a whole.

**UPDATE**: More info is trickling out. One witness, an armed business owner who was on the scene, said that he saw the guy emerge from his vehicle and immediately start randomly shooting a heavy caliber automatic weapon and stated, “I had my pistol, but I wasn’t going to go up against an automatic rifle....but when he came at me, when somebody is pointing an automatic weapon at you — you can't believe the firepower, the kind of rounds coming out of that weapon." To which I'm sure the brain-dead Yahoos on Yahoo! will simply reply -- "then maybe more people should carry assault rifles around with them in public" . . . which of course would simply confirm my diagnosis of the societal sickness with which we have all been afflicted.

**UPDATE #2**: When I refer to "America's shooting gallery" as I did at the beginning of this post, that reference carries absolutely no charm or wit with it. Yesterday's carnage in Nevada was so par for the course for this country that it actually overshadowed (news wise) two other multiple death shootings that occurred on the same day yesterday:

Five dead here.

Three more (including 2 children) dead here.

The question stands - when will it end?

TFG

If it's a class war they want, I think they should get it...

This is why I had to chuckle heartily about the right wing and Fox Noize getting their panties in a twist about Teamster President James Hoffa's remarks at a Labor Day rally yesterday. The right's view is they they and only they are allowed to aggressively express their political views. And Hoffa's remarks must have hit a soft spot because boy did they squeal like stuck pigs (mostly because Fox Noize deceptively edited the video to make it sound more sinister than it was). Anyhow, fuck the right, fuck the teahadists and fuck Fox Noize. It's about time someone said what Hoffa said and stuck by their guns when the crybabies screamed about it. But here's really why I'm not bothered by Hoffa's remarks (vicious attacks like the following have been taking place against Obama and the Democrats since Obama's election):

Today, Bradblog’s Brad Friedman reports for Mother Jones about a secret meeting that the right-wing oil billionaire Koch brothers held at a Colorado resort in June with hundreds of wealthy donors who plotted to finance right-wing causes and elect conservative politicians.

Friedman reports that audio he obtained from the conference reveals that Charles Koch alarmingly referred to President Obama as “Saddam Hussein,” saying that the right had to fight the “mother of all wars.” He rallied his guests to donate millions of dollars to help defeat Obama and boost other right-wing causes. Listen to audio of these remarks obtained by Friedman:

Honestly, I could give a shit less how much money Charles and David Koch have or how Christian they consider themselves. I view them as evil men who are at war with Democracy and with working Americans. They deserve neither respect or deference. They are the modern day Benedict Arnolds and they had better realize one thing -- they may have all of the money, but "We The People" have the numbers. And there endeth the lesson.

Jawohl Mein Fuhrer!! Ich Bin ein Fuckhead!!

Try to believe that this right-wing, goose-stepping puke...

...actually wrote this garbage:

Conservative columnist Matthew Vadum is just going to come right out and say it: registering the poor to vote is un-American and "like handing out burglary tools to criminals."

"It is profoundly antisocial and un-American to empower the nonproductive segments of the population to destroy the country -- which is precisely why Barack Obama zealously supports registering welfare recipients to vote," Vadum, the author of a book published by World Net Daily that attacks the now-defunct community organizing group ACORN, writes in a column for the American Thinker.

"Encouraging those who burden society to participate in elections isn't about helping the poor," Vadum writes. "It's about helping the poor to help themselves to others' money. It's about raw so-called social justice. It's about moving America ever farther away from the small-government ideals of the Founding Fathers."

Jeebus fuck! Where to begin with this one??

Well, before getting to the meat of the matter, my initial reaction based on his photo alone is that this jagoff deserves to be bitch-slapped into unconsciousness simply for looking like a villain from a Sean Connery James Bond movie.

Now that the niceties are out of the way . . . what un-holy 1930's Germany time warp did this Brownshirt wannabe emerge from? No really -- think about what he's saying. "Nonproductive" American citizens ought to be denied voting rights simply by virtue of the fact that they are -- hold on now, this gets complicated -- FUCKING POOR!! AHHHHHHHHHH!!!! MY EYES ARE BURNING FROM THE DAZZLING BRILLIANCE OF SUCH A CLEVER PERSPECTIVE! AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

And how much would you care to wager that it's this limp dick imp and his like minded imps who are the ones that get to define the parameters of the word "nonproductive?"

I will not mince words -- this guy's views scream Step 1 in Hitler's "final solution" plan and all one needs to do is read Mein Kampf! - simply substitute the word "Jewish" for the word "nonproductive" throughout that vile screed and it'll make perfect sense.

Some of my friends and family wonder why I'm so outspoken about politics and social justice advocacy issues and here you have the answer -- it's because there are relics of Hitler's and Mussolini's and Jefferson Davis' dark history skulking around in this country, just like this flaming asshole Matthew Vadum. If America's representative democracy is going to be around for my grandchildren to participate in and have a say in and pursue life, liberty and happiness in, I feel it's my duty to be vigilant and prepared to take on these bastards without hesitation and with every fiber of my being. And that is about all I have to say about this particular matter.

I don't always see eye to eye with Ed Schultz and there are times when I think his bombast overshadows his usually on-target messages, but in this case - teabagger Marco Rubio and his teabagger acolytes deserved every second of that ass shredding. I too am sick to fucking death of these ignorant, lying assholes and their "America was a much better country before the existence of Social Security and Medicare" clown routine bullshit.

All one has to do is sit down and spend some time looking at archived pictures of what America looked like during the 1920's Depression era and prior to know that Rubio and his ilk either do not know what the fuck they are talking about, or even more sinister, are willfully deceiving the American people on behalf of a tiny segment of wealthy elites in order to allow those elites to consolidate even more power and wealth for themselves.

Nobody reputable is seriously arguing that Social Security, Medicare/Medicaid, and other social benefits do not need any reform at all, but those like Rubio, Cantor, Perry, Bachmann and the rest of these brain-dead teabagging zombies who are calling for the wholesale elimination of those programs are simply put - stark-fucking-raving-mad. They have no clue as to the ramifications of such stupidity - none - nada - zilch and Ed Schultz is spot on right when he wonders how the fuck a fraud like Rubio ever got elected to office to begin with spouting such hateful idiocy.

I do know this - at some point Americans are going to wake up and realize how badly the Koch brothers and their ilk are fucking them and this country over. They'll also realize what dupes and/or willing accomplices the teabagging fuckwads have been in that chicanery. And hopefully once that realization comes into full bloom, it'll be party over for these pukes - every single one of them.

Oh My! It Is Quite the Dickotomy - Is It Not? . . .

Dick "Darth" Cheney emerged from his secret bunker this past week to make the television rounds hawking his just released memoirs. It appears Unka Dick has pretty much trashed everyone whom he ever had any dealings with in the Bush administration and more or less labeled them all incompetent disloyal hacks. Nary a word of self introspection of his own actions or self criticism of same has been culled from Dick's 565 page love-letter to himself as of yet. Aside from Colin Powell and Condi Rice who have both come out and vociferously questioned Unka Dick's version of history, a couple of other folks who's lives were negatively impacted by the Darth one had something to say about it as well:

I have some conservative friends who put Dick Cheney on a pedestal and believe he's some kind of comic book hero type of patriot. I think they are either willfully ignorant about the man and his history or so blinded by partisanship they cannot fathom that Cheney is actually one of the most loathsome (18% approval rating upon leaving office), unethical and dishonest men to have ever served in the highest echelons of government.

Dick Cheney played a major role in involving this country in an unnecessary war of choice which has resulted in the deaths of 5000 U.S. soldiers, tens of thousands more injured and maimed, the deaths of hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqi civilians, and the tarnishing of America's image the world over with his pro-torture views. And just like his 5 draft deferments to get out of Vietnam duty, his multiple DUI offenses, his deceitful manipulation of the process in choosing George W. Bush's Vice President (he chose himself), and his role in outing a covert CIA agent's identity (it's called treason in my dictionary) he steadfastly refuses to accept one iota of accountability for his actions. The man is worthy neither of respect, accolades or media attention. Long after we are all pushing up daisies, honest historians will not have much good to say about Dick Cheney the man or his destructive legacy. Period.

Teabagger Rubio Looks In Mirror and Sees Cause of a Weakened America...

"These programs actually weakened us as a people. You see, almost forever, it was institutions in society that assumed the role of taking care of one another. If someone was sick in your family, you took care of them. If a neighbor met misfortune, you took care of them. You saved for your retirement and your future because you had to. We took these things upon ourselves in our communities, our families, and our homes, and our churches and our synagogues."

As Dana Carvey's Church Lady would say - “Well, isn't that SPE-CIAL?!”

Wingnuts like Rubio wax nostalgic for the good old days of Ozzie and Harriet, Father Knows Best and Leave it to Beaver. Days, which they believe in their bizarro minds, were days where things like retirement benefits, health insurance, unemployment and disability assistance and food and shelter in old age weren't social issue concerns because "everybody took care of everybody". And if for some reason someone were too ill or injured to work or suffered a catastrophic life event that put you in dire economic straits, "somebody" would take you in and provide care for you and help you pay your bills and get you back on your feet again in no time. Are you following along here?

In Rubio's delusional teabagging mind it was a 1950's, black and white television world of no pain, no suffering, no children going to bed hungry at night, no elderly having to decide between eating cat food or pay for their medication, no homelessness, no domestic violence, no crushing household debt, no discrimination. Ahh yes - it was a time of sunshine, harp music, and rose petals falling gently from bright, sunny skies, settling softly on the fair haired heads of blue eyed Americans from sea to shining sea.

There's just one little problem with Rubio's sweet, benign retrospection on what life in these United States was like prior to the advent of a progressive social safety net -- It's a huge, steaming warm, maggot-infested pile of pure horse shit.

What Rubio and the Teahadists want, with the stealth wealth backing of the Koch brothers, is a total and permanent deconstruction of FDR's new deal. That includes the elimination of Social Security, Medicare/Medicaid, unemployment benefits, employer provided pension plans and other benefits -- and it all begins with destroying the unions and the right to collective bargain for those very things. They have a huge hard on at the prospect of creating a two-tiered society where the elites dictate life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness to the lower tier as they deem fit to interpret it.

And sadly, as George Carlin once disgustedly observed, they'll get it - they'll get it all. And frankly, when they do get it all and finally realize their wet dream of unfettered Oligarchy, I am hopeful that by that point the vast majority of Americans will have seen well enough of what these horrible people envision for a future America and begin to finally fight back - in the streets if need be. Because, I honestly believe that is what it will eventually require to beat back these fascists and put this country back on the path to peace, prosperity and equitable economic and legal justice for all.

Only 20 years behind the history curve . . .

The "Soviet Union" hasn't existed since 1991.

I don't believe it's a "Freudian" slip of the tongue. I think the far right conservatives (who also happen to be mostly religious nuts) would love nothing more than to return to a golden age of the Military Industrial Complex (MIC) which was the cold war with the former Soviet Union. I'll go even a step further - I think they would like to start a third world war, in the hopes it would be the catalyst for worldwide destruction and the realization of their biblical fantasy of Armageddon in preparation for the return of baby Jeebus.

If the prospect of this horribly ignorant woman and fundamentalist religious zealot becoming leader of the greatest democracy, most powerful military force and largest nuclear arsenal in the world doesn't frighten you -- it sure as fuck should.

Po', po', pitiful us . . .

This is both heartbreaking and infuriating.

Watch the full episode. See more PBS NewsHour.

The subject matter (wealth inequality in the U.S.) is one of those topics where if you even try to broach and have an honest discussion about it with a right winger/teabagger type, their eyes just glaze over, they begin stammering and hemming and hawing and claiming it's all a bunch of commie liberal propaganda, and eventually they just devolve into a quivering shell of a human being mumbling nonsense about Obama's birth certificate and socialism. It's a sad spectacle to be witness to.

What it truly is all about though is that it is the classic definition of reality denial.

These people have quite frankly been brain-washed by their Galtian overlords into believing that the predominant factor in America's greatness is the inerrant belief that every single one of us has the same level of access to economic opportunity and that the free market fairies, without prejudice, sprinkle their free market fairy dust upon all of us equally.

My experiences have taught me that right-wing conservatives are fundamentally incapable of believing that perhaps, just perhaps, that they're unshakeable belief in America's fairness is really nothing more than a myth. They just plain and simple cannot fathom, as the late great George Carlin once noted, that this "great" American system threw them overboard 30 years ago and that the only equality that exists now is that they are getting equally fucked in the ass just like the other 85% of Americans are by the wealthy elites.

Watch this clip. Tell me there isn't something wrong with what's going on here. Tell me that this madness must not only continue, that it should escalate. Tell me you believe the pie-in-the-sky bullshit that people like the Koch brothers and Fox Business News are claiming about how teachers and Cops and Firefighters and nurses and union members are the people who are sucking America dry of it's wealth and soul and are solely responsible for the global economic meltdown and if we just simply take away their rights as workers and eliminate their pensions and benefits plans that all will be well with the world again.

Yes -- tell me all of that and you know what I will tell you in reply? I will look you dead straight in the eye and tell you that you are a either a clueless, useful idiot or a fucking willfully ignorant tool and that you are acting in the role of being an accessory to the crime of destroying American democracy.

Anyhow - watch this clip from the PBS special. Click here to see the entire episode.

My long held view that this sick, pill-popping fuck secretly harbors fantasies about being named a KKK Grand Imperial Wizard is simply re-inforced by this:

August 17, 2011 3:29 pm ET by Todd Gregory

Today on his radio show, Rush Limbaugh described a new Oreo that will have both chocolate and vanilla cream as a "biracial" cookie and said that "it isn't going to be long before it's going to be called the Or-Bam-eo or something like this." Limbaugh later called it the "Or-Bam-eo" himself.

Listen:

I have no doubt that if Rush were allowed to do so, he'd simply get on his radio show every day, set his fat, cyst pocked ass down in his chair, turn up the volume button on his console to Max. and just scream over and over into the microphone: THERE'S A NIGGER IN THE WHITE HOUSE! THERE'S A NIGGER IN THE WHITE HOUSE!!

Unfortunately he's got a lot of like-minded zombie followers who think he's just peachy-keen and a man amongst men. And that's what is scariest.

The Way of the Gun . . .

They prove the validity of my views of them every goddamn day:

August 18, 2011 08:13 AM EDT

Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) ripped his colleagues during a tour of northeast Oklahoma, calling them “career elitists,” “cowards” and said, “It’s just a good thing I can’t pack a gun on the Senate floor.”

Coburn’s gun-on-the- floor comment comes less than a month after Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) made a triumphant return to the Capitol and the House floor following her shooting in the head in January outside a Tucson supermarket.

At the time of the shooting, in which six people were killed, there were briefly calls for re-instituting the federal ban on high-capacity ammunition clips and beefing up protection for members of Congress. None of the proposals gained significant traction since.

What is it with middle-aged, right wing males and their infantile fantasies about perpetrating gun violence on those they disagree with? They're like a bunch of 6 year old boys who have become infatuated with Yosemite Sam cartoons and have adopted the rootinest', tootinest', shootinest' animated cowboy freak as a father figure/role model.

They really just need to fucking grow up.

The lying just never stops with them:

As much as some of my conservative friends would like to believe that I pick on Fox News purely out of partisan motive, it simply is not true. I pick on Fox because they repeatedly employ outright lying in order to misinform their viewers with the sole goal of advancing the conservative movement's agenda.

Use of the public airwaves is a privilege in this country and with that privilege comes a duty to use those airwaves in a responsible manner. No - it's not Fox's politics that bother me, it's their sinister misuse of a publicly owned asset to deliberately spread misinformation and they ought to have their broadcast license pulled until they reform their unethical method of doing business.

(CNN) -- British Prime Minister David Cameron thinks he's found some culprits to blame in the recent riots that have rocked London and other cities -- Facebook and Twitter.

Saying the "free flow of information" can sometimes be a problem, Cameron's government has summoned those two social-networking sites, as well as Research In Motion, makers of the BlackBerry, for a meeting to discuss their roles during the violent outbreaks.

"Everyone watching these horrific actions will be struck by how they were organized via social media," Cameron said Thursday during an address to Parliament. "Free flow of information can be used for good. But it can also be used for ill. And when people are using social media for violence, we need to stop them."

Cameron said that government officials are working with authorities "to look at whether it would be right to stop people communicating via these websites and services when we know they are plotting violence, disorder and criminality."

Ahh yes - banning social media will magically solve all of the underlying issues and happy days will reappear. Because as we know all too well from history -- prior to the advent of the internet and mass-media communication, social protests and riots were non-existent.

That is pretty amazing considering it's a line of thinking that is coming from one of the world's premier democracies, and also it is not surprising in the least that it's a conservative government leader making such an asinine, anti-democratic proposal.

Don't think it could happen here?? Think again.

Come, Mister tally man, tally me banana Daylight come and me wan' go home...

By Joel Provano and John Spink
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Thousands of people stood in line for free dental services Friday at a church in Woodstock.

The two-day clinic at First Baptist Church of Woodstock on Hwy. 92 is being sponsored by the Georgia Dental Association and its Foundation for Oral Health.

"The line went around the building, all the way through the parking lot and around a warehouse," said Dr. Richard Smith, who practices in Atlanta. He estimated the line at 2,000 yards and said that at its peak, 4,000 people were in line.

It used to be that when one heard stories like this it was always taking place in some 3rd world, banana republic country in South America, some economically depressed, totalitarian Eastern European regime or some piss poor, underdeveloped African nation.

The fact it is now a regular occurrence here in America speaks volumes as to the type of future our wealthy elite, Galtian overlords have in store for this country. And with the mindless, rabid attack dog support from the supremely dense teabaggers, they stand an odds-in-favor chance of getting their way.

And before my race-baiting friends try to pin it on minorities - take a good look at the photos accompanying the article -- plenty of white folk in that mix too.

I weep at what greed, selfishness, hate, ignorance and apathy has done to this country. But I will not stand down and give up. In fact, this Gadfly has yet begun to fight.

Will The Real Banana Republican Please Stand Up? . . .

After watching online snippets of last night's GOP debate, a couple of things became ever more clearer to me.

First, no amount of alcohol intake can numb one enough to the rank stupidity and idiocy that simply engulfs every word that spews forth from the mouths of these lunatics.

Secondly, I have to harken back to an episode of Bill Maher's show in May where he did a review of the, at that time, announced GOP field and how he viewed it. Let's just say that "Face Ripper Monkey" is actually looking like a much more appealing and sympathetic candidate today than any of these jagoffs.

Oh - this is beautiful:

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

CALHOUN -- While U.S. Rep. Tom Graves was calling for fiscal responsibility in Washington his attorney was arguing in a lawsuit that a North Georgia bank is at fault for issuing Graves a $2.2 million loan the bank knew he could not repay.

Fucking LOL. It's the old Groucho Marx defense: "I DON'T WANT TO BELONG TO ANY CLUB
THAT WILL ACCEPT ME AS A MEMBER."

You just have to stand in slack-jawed awe at their hypocrisy. Just in the past month we've had the story of the teabagger conventioneers that stiffed The Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas for half a million $, then you had teabagger Rep. Joe Walsh from Illinois being outed as a deadbeat dad, and now - this teabagger clown who actually has the nerve of telling a creditor who lent him $2 million dollars that it's their fault he defaulted and isn't paying them back because they should not have lent him the money to begin with!!! Un-fucking-believable.

This is why I jut my middle finger ramrod straight and laugh in the face of these assholes when they start lecturing dirty fucking hippies like me about family values, fiscal responsibility and honesty.

They are clowns, fools and phonies and anybody who thinks they are the best alternative to our every day, run-of-the-mill corrupt regular politicians is a fool as well.

[LINK to story]
An offshoot of the South Florida Tea Party called "Tea Party In Space" is looking to break apart the government's socialist takeover of the final frontier.

Andrew L. Gasser launched Tea Party In Space in June as a way to "bring fiscal responsibility" into the space program, he told TPM Tuesday. He called the group, which was formed in conjunction with the South Florida Tea Party, the first "issue-specific" tea party in the country.

Gasser explained that the group aims to bring the free markets into the space program, because right now, he say, there is only the government -- which amounts to socialism. "It is socialism when you have the government coming down and saying, 'this is what we want to build, and this is how we want you to build it,'" he said.

[Posted on August 9, 2011 at 10:41 PM]

KEMP, Texas — Water is flowing again from faucets in the town of Kemp.

Now, city leaders hope prayer will provide them with rain.

Water had been cut off in this Kaufman County town of 1,200 since Saturday. On Tuesday night, residents assembled at a local park to pray for rain — a vigil organized by town leaders.

"In Jesus' name, we will have water and rain, and that all our problems here in Kemp will be solved and managed," said one Kemp resident in prayer.

Sigh....

The Frolicking Gadfly has been spent the better part of the past decade frantically waving his arms and yelling as loudly as he can to get people's attention about this stuff - to little avail.

This is the teabagger/fundamentalist religious/Koch brother's vision for a future America.

It is a future where America basically becomes the world's largest, albeit wealthiest, 3rd world country/banana republic.

In this future, the wealthy elites will be tax-free. There will be never ending wars. Corporations and Wall Street will be de-regulated to the point they aren't regulated at all. The public education system will be eliminated. There will be absolutely zero worker's rights. There will be no social security or medicare. There will be a pay or die health care system. The country's most cherished assets, it's natural resources, will be sold off to the highest bidder. As will the public utilities and services. And, as the folks in Kemp, Texas are now finding out, there will be no money for maintaining basic, life sustaining infrastructure such as the city water system.

Ultimately - it is a vision of a rapidly and steadily declining quality of life for everyone who isn't in the top 1 percentile of wage earners.

I'm going to be blunt about this -- if you are of the belief, as these saps in Kemp, TX are, that standing around in a circle, holding hands and praying to the Invisible Cloud Being is going to solve your crumbling infrastructure and drought crises, then you are a significant part of the problem and you need to be bitch-slapped into sensibility.

I honestly do not know what it is going to take to get people to peel their faces away from their television sets, pull their noses out of their bibles, stop believing the tall tales about how the free-market fairies will fix everything, and begin the process of dealing with the immensity of this country's economic and social issues from a reality-based viewpoint.

I do know this though, if you surrender to the boorish faux patriotism of teabaggers, the fear mongering of the religious nuts, and the sweet talking of the Koch brothers into giving up your rights, then you have no standing to bitch and moan when their vision turns out to be yours and your family's worst nightmare - because plenty of people, besides The Frolicking Gadfly, have been trying to educate you and warn you, for quite some time now, that these people do not have the best interests of the vast majority of Americans (meaning you!) in mind with their actions.

So take heed. Get informed. Get involved. Do the right thing. Denying these extremists their dark and cruel vision will be the best thing you could ever do for America's and your children's future.

Cantor: Let them eat cake . . . or any other scraps they can dumpster dive for

One running private joke you'll frequently see me employ is the "I'm not a violent man, but...." meme.

Generally speaking (no joking) I am not a person prone to violence. I am mostly abhorred by it. However, having stated that, I also acknowledged that every person has their line in the sand, Popeye "It's all I can stands and I can't stands no more!" moments, and I am no different.

Case in point - Eric Cantor. Take this clip for example:

When I see his smug, cocky rooster face on television pontificating about how out of work Americans don't need an extension of unemployment benefits, that they need JOBS - I just want to drill my tightly clenched fist straight in to his snotty little upturned nose with all my might.

He's such a fucking phony little hypocrite. JOBS? Really Congressman Cantor? You mean those things that neither you or your party, since regaining control of Congress, has yet to put forth one single piece of legislation aimed at creating? You Republicans seem to have plenty of time to create and attempt to pass legislation de-funding ACORN and NPR and trying to outlaw abortion and same-sex marriage and crush unions, but not a single piece of legislation to date has been offered up by the Republican controlled Congress with the goal of putting Americans back to work. NOT ONE!!

And then my conservative friends wonder why I mock their party and they're conservative "leaders."

What Bill says . . . .

Bill Maher really captures the essence as to how I'm feeling about Obama, and by proxy, the Democrats these days.

The radical change that people thought they were voting for in 2008, which by the way was entirely warranted based on the catastrophic mess Bush and the GOP left behind, never materialized. The energetic, tough talking campaign trail Obama (and the Democrats) kowtowed before the moneyed elites and teabagging nutters on the right and for all intents and purposes, appear to have sold progressives down the river.

If Obama is lucky enough to win in 2012 (very possibly without my vote), there had better be an instant sea change in his demeanor towards the Rethuglicans and the teabaggers and an immediate shift towards a progressive democratic governing strategy for the remainder of his 2nd term. I will confidently predict right now that if that does not occur, Obama's historical legacy will be right down in the pit of obscurity along with Warren Harding, Andrew Johnson and George W. Bush -- and believe me -- that's as about as low as you can get in the world of presidential historical rankings.
