If There Were Two Assholes That Ever Deserved Each Other . . . . . . .

The Gadfly is pretty certain at this stage of the goings on that it has been fairly well established that New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is about as corrupt a politician that has come down the pike in quite a while.  The only people who are not of that view are Christie's cheerleaders on Fox "News," his sycophantic groupies in the media, and, apparently, this guy:

Former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney will fundraise alongside New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) on Thursday in Boston.
The joint appearance is a signal by Romney to the Republican establishment that he remains an ally of the embattled Garden State governor, whose administration has become engulfed by a bridge-closing scandal.

Yeah -- you know -- the vulture capitalist guy who's job prior to politics was to buy up marginally performing American companies for pennies on the dollar, slash the shit out of their employment ranks, pay, and benefits packages and then either hand off control of those companies to his vulture capitalist cronies or sell them off to multinational investors?  Oh - as it so happens, he's also the guy who has tried, and failed, twice now, to become President of this great nation of ours?   Yup - that guy.

It doesn't annoy The Gadfly so much that Willard Romney is whoring out his GOP credentials to prop up his buddy Chris Christie at a time when Christie is finally getting the media scrutiny in to his past and present political skullduggery, which he has been artfully dodging since arriving on the national political scene, for it is basically understood that thieves do fall out among each other.

No - it's not that.  What perturbs The Gadfly more than anything is that Romney, it seems, has not learned much, if anything, from his 2012 crushing defeat to Obama, insomuch as it appears that he continues to be of the narcissistic belief that a majority of American voters actually find shallow, self-serving, plutocratic politicians like himself appealing as national candidates.  It is basically arrogance for arrogance's sake and it makes The Gadfly sick to his stomach.

What is also obvious is that Willard, by tying himself to a thuggish, Nixonian figure like Christie, is unabashedly sending an emphatic signal to the public and his detractors, that he himself holds words like ethics, integrity, respect and truthfulness in pretty low regard.

All of which validates that which The Gadfly has been stating the past couple of years - namely that America dodged a bullet, no - a Howitzer round, by sending Thurston Willard Howell Romney III and his Gucci bag carrying wife packing just as they were in the throes of imperious belief that his rightful ascension to the throne was imminent.

That alone was a sign to The Gadfly that this country is still worth fighting for.
