It's Time. It's Long, Long Past Time . . . . .

** Upfront Disclaimer:  The Gadfly has not partaken in the gratification of the magic green plant since his post-military days in the mid-1980's.  He has, however, been a reliable consumer of fermented beverages of all sorts, and still is to this very day.

More proof that The Gadfly is not a lock-step Democrat, and is just as apt to tear in to any one of them when their stupidity calls for it - as he would a Republican.

Case in point -- this jackass:

Recreational marijuana is now legal for adults to purchase in Colorado. Those same adults have been able to possess and consume pot legally since 2012, when votersapproved Amendment 64. But the state's Democratic governor said he "hates" his state's legal weed "experiment."
Gov. John Hickenlooper revealed his feelings about marijuana legalization to the Durango Herald's editorial board Friday.
“I hate Colorado having to be the experiment,” he told the newspaper.

"Sniff!  Sniff! Oh woe is us!". . .  For what other reaction could be expected toward the marijuana legalization movement by someone who made their million dollar fortune in peddling a competing mood altering substance - alcohol?

Apparently Hickenlooper is of the clownish belief that there are reputable, documented studies showing the number of auto-accident deaths, domestic murders, and other violent incidents committed solely by marijuana smokers, which mirror the carnage factor that is alcohol.  And he would be laughably wrong.

But why let facts get in the way of pandering to the pro-alcohol, anti-drug, living, breathing paradox people - right?

Governor Hickenlooper obviously has not taken in to full account the fact that the people of his state decided, by a clear majority, that marijuana was no more harmless a mind/mood altering substance than tobacco and alcohol, and as such have legalized it's sale and usage.  And if he continues to be an asshole and push the issue, The Gadfly wouldn't wager a wooden nickel on his re-election should he decide to go for it.

The Gadfly has already talked about defunding the miserable failure known as the DEA and diverting that money in to drug education and prevention and rehabilitation programs.

But the bottom line, as far as booze producing Governor Hickenlooper is concerned, is that whether he likes it or not, marijuana legalization is coming, in fact it is already there in his state, and by the time all of the political/social debate dust settles, it will eventually be viewed in the same vein that your liquor stores are on every street corner today.  The anti-legalization clowns have had decades and billions of dollars to prove that their methods were effective.  They have failed - period.  Time for a change in strategy.
