"President Donald Trump has offered a $1m (£750,000) reward to people who report cases of voter fraud in the US which lead to a conviction.
Ahead of the midterm elections on 3 November, Trump has been casting doubt on the security of the vote - alleging "rampant" cheating in postal voting and non-citizens voting.
However, studies suggest actual cases of these are extremely rare.
Multiple studies show proven instances of non-citizens voting in past US elections have been very small.
The Heritage Foundation's database identified 24 cases of non-citizens being convicted for voting between 2005 and 2025.
A 2026 analysis by Reuters of non-citizen voting cases brought in federal courts found that over the last 30 years 129 people have been criminally charged and 73 of those cases resulted in a conviction.
"The fact that it's illegal for non-citizens to vote is a pretty strong deterrent in the first place as many worry about their immigration status and it would be an extremely risky move to vote," says Darrell West, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution.
"There's never been any evidence that there are many people who have done that, certainly not enough to influence an election.""

Drumpf's poll numbers right now just before next week's midterm elections are at rock-bottom. He and his morally bankrupt supporters are panicking and so they dig into their hoary old bag of electioneering tricks and, voila - "RIGGED ELECTION!!"

I mean, for fuck's sake, even the conservative Heritage Foundation says actual vote fraud in this country is so rare that it's practically non-existent.
During the 20-year period from 2005 to 2025, only 24 votes out of hundreds of millions if not over a billion votes cast were found to be fraudulent. That number is so infinitesimally small that it explains why no proof in any form has EVER been credibly produced by Republicans indicating voter fraud is rampant, much less a commonly committed crime.
All of this Drumpf/MAGA caterwauling about election fraud is because a bunch of horrible fucking Americans who have done horrible things to this country and to the people of this country over the past couple of years, and who have committed crimes in office themselves, are terrified of losing their grip on power, power they never rightfully earned and clearly at this stage, do not rightfully deserve to keep.
