I'm glad someone published a story like this finally.
Not that I believe it will have an influential or widespread effect on those who continue to believe blindly in Drumpf's wicked lies about the 2020 election being 'stolen' from him, but because it shows that there is a sliver of redemptive hope for the minds and souls of some of the Fox "news" zombies who are still addicted to Rupert Murdoch's right-wing propaganda heroin:

"In interviews with MS NOW’s David Noriega over why they have abandoned Donald Trump, members of the “Leaving MAGA” organization explained why they got involved in the movement before fleeing what one called a “cult.”
Admitting that they found acceptance within the Trump-can-do-no-wrong movement, Ron Kelley stated he left when he removed himself from the Fox News bubble.
“I did believe that the election was stolen,” he told Noriega. “I believe that the riots were actually —those were patriots until I actually switched off Fox News and started getting my news from other places for my information. That's when it finally hit.”
Tori Hurst confessed she fell in with the MAGA crowd because, “I grew up really poor, so a lot of my friends' parents would be responsible for helping me get to prom or making sure I had new shoes for school, and they were all MAGA. And it was very much this constant conversation of, if you want to have nice things, be a Republican.”
What happened at the Jan. 6 insurrection eventually became a wake-up call for her.
“I met my now-husband in 2021, and they made me watch a documentary on January 6th, and I didn't even know what happened on January 6th prior to the PBS documentary,” she recalled. “And I looked at him and I said, ‘Scott, did that really happen?’ And he was like, ‘Where have you been?’"
First off, I have to say something about the young reformed MAGA lady having been 'groomed' as a teen by the MAGA parents of her friends to believe the hateful idea that "if you want to have nice things, be a Republican."
I am presuming the messaging there to that then teen girl was that if you want to be accepted in our group, be a Republican. And vote for Republicans.
Ah yes - preparing the American youth of tomorrow by grooming them to vote for the kind of Republicans like the one currently squatting in the American people's White House who just so happens to be a lifelong con artist, failed crooked "businessman," serial adulterer, serial sexual assaulter, adjudicated rapist, suspected child rapist, and coup-plotting, convicted felon. Apparently those are the kind of Republicans the MAGA parents of that girl's friends were grooming her to vote for.
Seriously though, that attitude right there is about as 'elitist' as you can fucking get, man. The implication is that Americans who vote for Democrats are the kind of Americans who don't attain "nice things" in life simply because of the way they vote.
It intrigues me that these hardcore MAGA people can be so willfully blind. Have any of them who truly believe that bullshit ever done any extensive traveling through the rural heartland of this country and seen the poverty and rot that exists in so many areas?
Is it just coincidence that many of the poorest rural areas in this country are also GOP voting strongholds? Not that poverty in forgotten little rural towns is anything to celebrate, or make fun of. Poverty, whether inner city or rural should be something that is unacceptable in any form in the wealthiest nation on the planet.
Seriously though, I can only imagine what other manner of right-wing nonsense and malevolent bullshit those MAGA parents of that woman's friends filled her head with.

But yes indeed, I too had wondered where that former MAGA lady had been that she had not heard about the violence perpetrated by Drumpf's thugs on January 6, 2021 at the US Capitol.
The answer is simple. She was hanging out on Fox "news" getting all of her "news" and information about that ugly, un-American day from a network which just a few years ago had to pay out three quarters of a billion dollars to a voting machine company in a lawsuit settlement after admitting in court to having used their "news" platform to mislead and dis-inform their viewers about the 2020 election being compromised by corrupt voting machines. Fox had perpetrated this misdeed against their own viewers despite Drumpf's own DHS saying at the time that the 2020 election was the most secure election in history.
So yeah, it is not surprising in the least that Fox "news" is the reason that these unfortunately clueless, now former MAGA folks were utterly shocked, shocked I tell you, to find out that January 6th actually happened, and that it wasn't a bunch of 'Antifa' (there's no such thing) guerilla forces who violently attacked our nation's capitol, put more than 150 law enforcement officers in the hospital, ransacked and looted the capitol complex, threatened the lives of public officials, stole and vandalized public property, and got several people killed, including three police officers, all in a bid to stop the lawful congressional certification of Joe Biden's legitimate victory over Donald Trump in the 2020 election.
And now you know why I have stated on multiple occasions on the pages of this shitty little blog that I believe Rupert Murdoch is just a pure, unadulterated pile of evil human waste.
Murdoch's native country of Australia more or less forced the dirty old fascist ass out of their country for attempting to do the very same thing to their news media that he has been doing to the news media here in the US for the past 30 years with his tainted Fox Corp. and all of it's slimy tentacles. I mean, how fucking vile of a person do you need to be for your home country to essentially tell your ass to leave?
But, Rupert did leave Australia knowing that he he would not be able to expand his corrupt muckraking media empire there the way he wanted to, and so he set his sights on the good old US of A, launched the execrable Fox 'news' in 1996, and it's been downhill for the American news media industry since.
The fact that day in and day out several million Americans tune in non-stop to that execrable lie peddling, trash slinging network and swear by everything they see and hear on it is not only a sad testament to the power of propaganda, but its pretty fucking scary as well.
I hope the two former MAGA folks highlighted in this article continue on their path of MAGA-free enlightenment. I hope they are able to convince others to burn the red hat and rejoin the world of sanity and decency.
