Well of course these former presidential ethics attorneys are outraged.
I am outraged too. I mean, I'm not an ethics attorney but it's pretty clear to me that a sleazy billionaire POTUS grabbing a cool quarter of a billion dollars of taxpayer money to be deposited in to his own personal bank account because he feels it is owed to him for the inconvenience of having had to defend his own criminality, is a brazenly corrupt fucking act by any fair standards of decency.
And to top it all off, it appears that by design, the ONLY two officials at the DOJ who have the authority to sign off on this corrupt cash grab by the dirty old mobster are both crony Drumpf personal attorneys who have previously defended him in his aforementioned criminal cases.
DonOld's MAGA administration has:
❌ No money for SNAP or WIC.
❌ No money for free school lunches for impoverished American kids.
❌ No money for education.
❌ No money for healthcare.
❌ No money for Medicaid or Medicare.
❌ No money for Social Security.
❌ No money for Veterans Benefits.
❌ No money for children's cancer research.
❌ No money for federal disaster aid, or energy and infrastructure projects (unless you kiss Drumpf's ring).
Essentially, there is no money in the world of Drumpf and his 'Project 2025' governing strategy for any program or agency that actually helps alleviate the economic burdens that weigh heavily on the backs of working Americans, burdens which were put there by an economy that has been massively rigged by the billionaire class ever since Saint Reagan's bullshit "trickle-down economics" charlatanism was forced upon us 45 years ago.
Unsurprisingly though - somehow there is plenty of money for:
✅ $175 Billion for ICE to build a network of deportation concentration camps around the country and amass an arsenal of small arms and heavier wmd weaponry, presumably to be used against the American citizenry at some near-future date.
✅ $40 Billion to bail out a shit-talking Argentinian, Trump mini-me autocrat whose Drumpf-inspired 'Project 2025' governing policies drove his country into bankruptcy.
✅ $300 million (and climbing) for the unauthorized demolition of the historic East Wing of the American people's White House to build a garish, gold-trimmed monument to a twice-impeached felon.
✅ $170 million for two new luxury jets for puppy-killing DHS poobah Kristi Noem and her henchmen to fly Kristi around the country to staged ICE operations so she can do her phony cosplay photo ops and propaganda videos.
✅ $230 million to give to a casino bankrupting, lying, grifting, conning charlatan and twice-impeached, coup-plotting convicted criminal, adjudicated rapist and suspected child rapist as compensation for his hurt feelings for having been properly prosecuted for his criminality.
✅ $100 million (est.) of taxpayer money spent on supporting Drumpf's golf trips to his Florida mobster hangout.
Btw - more Americans really ought be a lot more concerned than they are about ICE using a good chunk of that $175 Billion in taxpayer funding stockpiling small arms and mid-grade wmd's, along with hi-tech surveillance and tracking products and vehicles provided by immigrant billionaire tech-bros like Elmo and Peter Thiel. That is a proverbial recipe for authoritarian ratfuckery disaster and if people don't wake up and smell the more expensive tariff coffee, one morning they might find themselves living throwaway lives that are just as miserable and controlled as the poor bastards who are unfortunate enough to be citizens of Russia or China.
