That is a NASA satellite snapshot from mid-day today. That little white blob to the left is Hurricane Katia, about to make landfall on the central Mexico coast. The white blob to the right is Hurricane Jose who is nipping the heels of his big, goonish sister, Irma, right ahead of him.
And that brings us to Irma. Take a close look at that picture. Irma is 2.5 times the size of Jose and if you do some basic measurements, it's clear that the circumference of Irma is three (3) times wider than the widest point of the Florida peninsula. And --- it's eclipses the entire south to north length of Florida by about one half.
This is a fucking horrifyingly, monstrous-sized storm dear readers. This thing is going slam in to the tip of Florida with somewhere in the neighborhood of 150-165 mph winds with gusts up to 195mph - likely a CAT 5 level (according to latest news reports). This is dead-man walking level devastation we're looking at here.
This country had better learn to put aside their stupid fucking, petty political snits for awhile and pull together because a great many of our fellow countrymen & women & children, conservatives, liberals, Democrats, Republicans, black, white, brown, are going to be needing the help of every one of their fellow citizens who truly, honestly and passionately cares about this nation.
Oh -- and Rush Limbaugh -- that fat, phony fuck, after peddling his idiotic bullshit about this Hurricane being a liberal conspiracy to advance the views of 97+% of climate scientists on the subject of climate change -- well that porcine banshee hauled fat ass in the middle of the night out of his Palm Beach, Fl. castle while his rube followers were still getting their rocks off Limbaugh's (The Gadfly's longtime nickname for him is 'cRush LimpBalls') bitter pablum.
Anyhow -- LimpBalls is just a circus side-show. Florida and it's people will be deeply more in need of our attention in the coming days, weeks and months.
So here we go folks. Pray if you're of the persuasion. Be ready to extend a helping hand, offer a little of your money if you are able. If all you got is empathy, sympathy, spiritual support -- that's always welcome -- and it sure does appear that they are going to be needing a lot of that.
