It was just a matter of time before they began comparing themselves to the Fife & Drum Minutemen Corps at Lexington and Concord:
Rep. Morgan Griffith (R-VA) suggested the House should reject an unfavorable agreement from the Senate, even if it resulted in a debt default that severely damaged the economy,The Hill reports.
Said Griffith: "We have to make a decision that's right long-term for the United States, and what may be distasteful, unpleasant and not appropriate in the short run may be something that has to be done."
He added: "I will remind you that this group of renegades that decided that they wanted to break from the crown in 1776 did great damage to the economy of the colonies. They created the greatest nation and the best form of government, but they did damage to the economy in the short run."http://politicalwire.com/archives/2013/10/12/gop_lawmaker_justifies_plunging_economy_into_crisis.html
The Gadfly is not sorry to say that he cannot realistically fathom how anyone with an iota of studied knowledge of America's founding history could earnestly compare the Revolutionary struggle of the fledgling colonies against British imperial rule, to the right wing, juvenile temper tantrums that are presently on full display in our nation's capital.
At long last can we get our neutered, fucking dysfunctional mainstream media to just goddamn openly admit that there is one group in this Washington D.C. monkey-business farce that is clearly, and leagues beyond everyone else, behaving as the discernibly immature, intransigent and just downright delusional group in the whole sordid affair??
Hey - the day that Harry Reid begins comparing his party's efforts to Private Ryan storming the beaches of Normandy, The Gadfly will gladly jump lickety-split to his keyboard to denounce such fallacious idiocy. However, as each day passes, there is no mistaking who the dangerous-minded loons are in this colossally feeble-minded pissing match. And the sooner we put the public spotlight on those assholes and marginalize (not silence - big difference) their voices, the sooner we can put this absurd playground ruckus to bed and get on with the business of governing America in the best interests of all of her people.
