Team Benghazi!! . . . RAH! RAH!! RAH!!! . . . ! GO TEAM GO ! . . . . . . . . . .

The Benghazi!Benghazi!!Benghazi!!! kangaroo court has officially convened apparently -- and no -- the following pic is not a parody:

It's like an opening season NFL football game to them - and they're introducing the home team offense with their star quarterback.

And of course, the spineless fucking Democrats are already knock-kneed wavering as to whether they should play along with this juvenile charade:

House Democrats left town on Friday divided and with a cloud of uncertainty hanging over their heads about whether they'll participate in or boycott the GOP-led select committee to investigate the Benghazi attacks of 2012.
There are strong views on both sides of that internal debate, and while Democratic leaders haven't made any final decisions, the mood of the conference has shifted somewhat in recent days from boycott to participation, sources say.
http://talkingpointsmemo.com/dc/democrats-torn-benghazi-panel

"Uncertainty??"  Fucking really??  About what??  Whether or not you'll look like pusillanimous fools to a sizable portion of the American electorate for appeasing these phony assholes?  Let them have their little ratfucking show trial.  The only people they are fooling are the dim bulb rubes who are already convinced that Obama and his super duper top-secret army of stealth Ninja Acorn activists coordinated the whole Benghazi attack themselves with the help of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Who gives a fuck about these clowns and their kangaroo court trial who's outcome is already predetermined?

And how, some might ask, do you Mr. Smartass Gadfly, know that this outcome is predetermined?

Well -- The Gadfly will tell you --- because the smarmy little Teabagger prick who's running this monkey circus, GOP rep Trey Gowdy, told the whole world so in an interview with MSNBC's Joe Scarborough the other day --

Observe:

Meet the chief prosecutor in the GOP’s Benghazi show trial
By Dana Milbank, Published: May 7
Rep. Trey Gowdy, the tea party Republican tapped to lead the new committee investigating the 2012 Benghazi attacks, made a telling slip Wednesday morning in describing his mission.
Asked by MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough about the possibility that his panel’s work would continue into the 2016 election campaign, Gowdy replied that “if an administration is slow-walking document production, I can’t end a trial simply because the defense won’t cooperate.”
http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/dana-milbank-meet-the-chief-prosecutor-in-the-gops-benghazi-show-trial/2014/05/07/0dc3d550-d634-11e3-95d3-3bcd77cd4e11_story.html

The Gadfly would love to get this asshat Trey Gowdy in to a high stakes, stud poker game.  The Gadfly would clean this twit's drawers and hang them out to dry too.

This idiot comically tipped his hand by calling his supposedly "non-partisan" congressional committee inquiry a "trial" --- on national fucking television no less!

That was no idle slip of the tongue dear readers.  That was the ratfucking zealousness of a right wing ratfucker talking there, make no mistake about it.

And that is exactly how this thing will play out.  These jagoffs aren't looking for the truth.  They are looking for a way to gin up the outrage factor amongst the TeaRubes, and if in the process the whole thing "just happens" to drag in to 2016 Presidential election season -- it's icing on the cake for them.

The dumbass Democrats do themselves no favor in legitimizing this ratfucking kangaroo court monkey circus by having any damn thing to do with it.  They are better off tending to the important legislative issues which are impacting real American's every day lives, and let the right wing toddlers play with their ratfucking toys in the Benghazi sand box all alone.

And if the mainstream media would rather give attention to a bunch of contemptuous, attention-starved ratfuckers than to the reality-based world issues that are afflicting this nation today, then fuck them too -- that would be the coup de grace evidence demonstrating that the corporate media is so ethically and intellectually compromised that they no longer serve a relevant or useful purpose in our society.

And that is about all that The Gadfly has to say on this sordid subject for the time being.

Friday Funnies . . . . .

Pope Benedict calls for legitimate and reasonably measured redistribution of the oligarch's ill-gotten wealth:

Oh Sweet Jeebus . . . . . .

Sigh . . . . . .

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the armed crazy folks are still armed and crazy.
Just because Cliven Bundy lost media favor after playing his hand as a racial bigot, and just because the Second Amendment-loving paramilitary dudes surrounding him were denied their revolutionary confrontation with federal officials, that doesn't mean the wahoo business is out of business in Bunkerville, Nevada.
Bundy, the Mormon father of 14 who fought for the right to graze his cattle on taxpayer land without paying his fees, has become a straight-up George Washington for gun-toting liberty lovers and freepers nationwide, and now he's using his bully pulpit to offer them history lessons on America.
You won't find the recorded lessons on his YouTube page; you need a special link to access each one, which Bundy provides if you sign up for his corporate-style email list. Fortunately, the videos are still pretty easy to find online if you do some basic poking; I've embedded them, with transcribed highlights, below.
What's the basis of these history lessons? A lot of hilariously incorrect bullshit. To wit, Bundy explains the following:
  • How America started with some pilgrims in a sailboat who thought the world—or "the ocean," in Bundy's parlance—was flat and had edges you could fall off.
  • How the 13 colonies waged the American Revolution against "Europe," which had the largest army ever.
  • How the Constitution is divinely inspired and useless without the Ten Commandments.
  • How fans of vigorous federalism like Washington, Madison and Hamilton "didn't want a big central government, we didn't want a big state government, we was even leery about having even a local government."
  • How the founding fathers set up the three branches of U.S. government, including the "adjudical" or "judical."
"I'm not no prophet, I'm just a rancher farmer," Bundy says in the videos. But that doesn't mean he can't teach you a few things. Join him, will you? Class is just starting.

This man and his wingnut followers are a hundred clowns of dumbassery trying to stuff themselves in to a Smart Car-sized clown car.

Go to the link and watch some of Mr. Bundy's YouTube classes on U.S. history - then tell The Gadfly that these are the people you want leading your nation in to your children's and grandchildren's future.

The NYT Finally Tires of the GOP Clown Show . . . . Will Wonders Never Cease?....

The Gadfly disowned the New York Times years ago when they and their atrociously negligent reporting cheer led, along with the Washington Post, the majority of the mainstream media and some spineless Democrats, Bush and Cheney's Great Iraq Adventure.  The Times has since apologized for their journalistic malfeasance (tell it to the 4000+ dead American soldiers and half a million dead Iraqis) and apparently all is lovely with the world again - or some such horseshit.

Anyhow, believe it or not, the NYT, not unlike the proverbial broken clock, does sometimes get shit right on occasion, and in the instance of the Republican's creepy obsession with their wholly owned and manufactured "scandals" of Benghazi and the IRS probes, the editors at the NYT nail it on the proverbial fucking head:

Center Ring at the Republican Circus

The hottest competition in Washington this week is among House Republicans vying for a seat on the Benghazi kangaroo court, also known as the Select House Committee to Inflate a Tragedy Into a Scandal. Half the House has asked to “serve” on the committee, which is understandable since it’s the perfect opportunity to avoid any real work while waving frantically to right-wing voters stomping their feet in the grandstand.
They won’t pass a serious jobs bill, or raise the minimum wage, or reform immigration, but House Republicans think they can earn their pay for the rest of the year by exposing nonexistent malfeasance on the part of the Obama administration. On Thursday, they voted to create a committee to spend “such sums as may be necessary” to conduct an investigation of the 2012 attack on the consulate in Benghazi, Libya. The day before, they voted to hold in contempt Lois Lerner, the former Internal Revenue Service official whom they would love to blame for the administration’s crackdown on conservative groups, if only they could prove there was a crackdown, which they can’t, because there wasn’t.
Both actions stem from the same impulse: a need to rouse the most fervent anti-Obama wing of the party and keep it angry enough to deliver its donations and votes to Republicans in the November elections. For a while it seemed as if the Affordable Care Act would perform that role, but Republicans ran into a problem when the country began to realize that it was not destroying American civilization but in fact helping millions of people.
Party leaders needed something more reliable, so they went back and revived two dormant scandals from last year, the embers of which were faithfully tended by Republican adjuncts on Fox News and talk radio. Their hope is to show that the administration is corrupt and untrustworthy, and if Hillary Rodham Clinton also gets roughed up in the process, so much the better.

...... Tepid applause from The Gadfly's gallery.

The Gadfly supposes that he should be somewhat grateful that the New York Times is finally, and publicly acknowledging the dirty little (not so secret) secret that us dirty fucking hippie bloggers out here in Blogistan have been raging about for years -- namely that the modern day incarnation of the GTeaOP is not, in the least sense, interested in participating in the hard work of governing the country and working on behalf of safeguarding ALL American's best interests.  They have fully embraced the afflictive concept of party, ideology & tribe first, country second.  Their hatred for the commie, Muslim, Kenyan, terrorist appeasing negro in the White House is their entire party platform in sum total.  The failure and personal destruction of President Obama is all they care about and it is the lifeblood of their ideology in it's present form.

The other not-so-secret secret that the New York Times belatedly appears to have belatedly discovered is that Fox "News" is not a news organization.  It play pretends that it is, but it isn't.  Fox "News" is a wholly owned subsidiary of Rupert Murdoch and his fellow oligarchs in the investor class and in all practicality, functions as nothing more than a high-powered marketing (propaganda) firm masquerading as a "news" organization while shilling 24x7 on behalf of the conservative movement and the Tea Party.  And if the New York Times has finally accepted the reality of that reality, then perhaps there is hope yet for the salvation of the mainstream media in this country yet.

Nonetheless, the question at this point is, what else, other than a single op-ed piece, is the New York Times prepared to do to inform Americans of the insidious disease that right-wing conservatism is, and the damage that it is willfully inflicting on this country and it's citizenry with their zealous scandal mongering?  Meanwhile, a myriad of issues that are impacting the daily lives of millions of Americans and small business owners go unacknowledged because the Tea Party, who let's face it, truly are the face of the Republican party these days, would much prefer to spend their time and the taxpayer's money chasing their own tail around in dizzyingly dumb circles in pursuit of the precious -- the golden Obama scandal -- which in the reality-based world that they obviously do not inhabit, is nothing more than a crayola crayon created masterpiece culled from the vacuous depths of their own fevered imaginations.

If the New York Times truly wishes to atone for it's role in the Iraq war catastrophe, then making it a mission to tell the American people the truth about the conservative's and the oligarch's agenda for America's future is the first step in the right direction toward that penance.  As such, they have gotten off on the right foot with this op-ed exposing the arrogant fraudulence and the inanity of the Benghazi/IRS flim-flammery of the right.

Keep it up NYT - your celestial redemption depends on it.

They Don't Need No 'Steenking' Legitimacy in Their Elections . . . . .

Wtf??  They want to jury-rig their own primary debates now:

RNC officials also have been interested in having greater control over the format and moderators of the debates.
A frequent complaint inside the RNC headquarters is that the 2012 primary moderators were more interested in talking about differences among candidates than helping voters rally behind a favored candidate.
If the RNC gets its way, moderators would agree to keep debates focused on topics Priebus prefers and avoid intraparty squabbling.
A senior RNC official said the committee has spoken with every network about the proposal.
http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory/republicans-meet-limit-debates-set-2016-plans-23619097

In other words - they want debate moderators to, for all intent and purpose, to sign some kind of loyalty oath that they will not ask any questions about the candidates past ethics issues, controversial statements, questionable fundraising activities, sources of their campaign cash, hypocrisy on issues, etc., etc., etc......

Shit - just offer the job to Sean Hannity or Fox & Friends then.  Those clowns will bend over and grease up to sign that loyalty oath so fast, the planet will tilt on it's axis.

Oh - and btw - can any of The Gadfly's conservative friends point him to the universally accepted definition of the word "moderator" (in the context of debates) which states unambiguously that the primary role of the moderator is to help "voters rally behind a favored candidate?"

Why don't they just dispense with the fucking facade then of allowing their constituents to decide who will be their candidate via the primaries, and just let the Koch Brothers, the Wall Street Bankers and their paid propagandists at Fox "News" make the decision as to who the GOP's presidential candidate will be?  Cut out the middle men (GOP primary voters) and be done with it.

This is your modern day Republican party though dear readers - and The Gadfly has for years been trying to educate you all of just how shallow and phony they truly have become.  They know deep down that their economic, social and foreign policies are as toxic to the best interests of average, working Americans as the air, waterways and soil that their fossil fuel industry friends have been, and still are, poisoning, and so the solution, in their eyes, is to simply forbid debate moderators from asking any uncomfortable questions which might upset the delicate sensibilities of their vacuous, whiny-ass candidates.  Good lord - what a bunch of pampered, dishonorable, gutless fucking pussies.
