"Texas farmers have long been a sure thing for Republicans. With the midterms just over two weeks away, some of them say that loyalty is being tested.
High fuel and fertilizer prices driven by President Donald Trump’s war with Iran are hitting farmers hard across the state, the Houston Chronicle reported on Saturday.
“We’ve had our ups and downs, but this (economy) ranks with the worst ones I’ve seen,” said Russell Boening, president of the Texas Farm Bureau. “I know that people aren’t happy with everything but, maybe looking at the big picture, they’ll stay true to how they normally vote. Or maybe they stay home.”"
It's not just Texas farmers who are being dragged across the 'affordability' coals by Drumpf/MAGA governing decisions.
This is occurring in farming communities across the country, and unless DonOld has some magical trick up his dirty sleeve to end the very stupid war that he and Bibi Netanyahu started against Iran, it will get worse.
Once again though, I hearken back to the fact that 75% of these farmers voted in 2024 for the guy that nearly destroyed their livelihoods in his first term in office with his ill-advised, merry-go-round tariff wars.
What did they seriously believe Drumpf was going to do if he was given a second four year term in office?
I mean, he literally told these farmers that he was going to go right back to starting more trade and tariff wars, and surprise of all surprises, here we are once more with American farmers getting shit upon yet again by a Donald Trump government and having to be bailed out yet again with other people's (taxpayer) money.
The supreme irony in all of this is watching these 'socialism' hating Republican farmers voting over and over again for Republican candidates for higher office who don't give a shit about these farmer's interests, and then watching 'socialism' have to financially bail these dipshits out over and over again when those Republican governing policies fail.
I think what I am trying to convey here is that I have pretty much lost the ability to feel sympathy for these farmers and truckers who voted for Drumpf in 2016 and 2024, and are now being squeezed into financial extinction by the same policies that victimized them previously.
When the majority of American farmers sided with the convicted felon, coup instigator, adjudicated rapist, and suspected child rapist at the ballot box in 2016 and 2024, they essentially chose to side against their own county and against themselves and their own interests.
Therefore, I say if if stupidity is going to rule the day in deciding who should lead the US, then let these fucking Trump-voting farmers and truckers swim in their own sea of this stupidity, and let's stop tossing them taxpayer-funded lifelines (bailouts) that rewards that stupidity. Let them sink or swim of their own chosen volition.
