When Your Party Leader is a Mobster, That Sets the Tone for the Tolerance of Undesirable Political Candidates

Yes, I know these sordid stories make for better tabloid fodder, but it really goes beyond that when you acknowledge the reality that this person is seeking a position of public trust as an elected representative of his fellow citizenry in their state's government:

"A Republican running for the Missouri state House has been arrested after he tried to have cocaine planted on his opponent, prosecutors allege in a news release. 

Thomas Christopher Ross, 37, has been charged with a count of conspiring to distribute a controlled substance after the man he allegedly tasked with planting the drugs, his former campaign manager, called police and foiled the plot, authorities say. 

The alleged scheme targeted local realtor Louise Secker, a fellow Republican running for the same seat. The ex-campaign manager claims he was instructed to plant the cocaine, as well as Adderall, in Secker’s car or purse."

 

Now that right there is peak MAGA politician if you know what I mean.

Shit, it doesn't get an scummier than paying someone to plant cocaine and other illicit drugs on your political opponent to frame them.

Drumpf would absolutely love this Thomas Ross guy, I guarantee it, because that is the kind of dirty tricksterism which is right at home in the dirty old mobster's wheelhouse, and it's the kind of sadistic ratfucking that DonOld can appreciate.   Thomas Ross is just another poster child for the kind of morally suspect people who Drumpf and the MAGA movement have lured out of the woodwork and inspired to run for public office.  

It goes without saying that having elected representatives with the mindset of Thomas Ross in control of the White House and the US Congress right now  is why our country is involved yet again in another Mideast 'forever war' quagmire that is draining our treasury and decimating our economy, all  while our dotard POTUS busies himself with plotting new taxpayer-funded projects to build gigantic gold leafed monuments to himself, including a bunker to take refuge in when the wrath of the American people turns against him.

I mean ... what in God's name are we doing here?  Are we really going to let these morally bankrupt clowns and charlatans debase and tarnish our democracy and shared American history by taking us down the road to the glorified incompetence of autocratic fascism?

Show up to vote in November.  That's all.  That's where the job of putting an end to the ignominious era of Drumpf and MAGA begins for Americans who actually give a shit about the future of this country and the survival of American democracy.
