Dear God. What have we done to ourselves by inflicting this supremely malignant narcissist upon the good and decent people of our republic?

Imagine if President Barack Obama, after having had a successful, scandal-free, war-free, drama-free first term in office, decided that in his second term he would tear down the historic East Wing of the White House to build a gaudy, gold-trimmed "ballroom" to be named after himself, pave over the equally historic White House Jackie Kennedy Rose Garden, plot the building of a monstrous Third-Reich inspired, arch-like structure as a tribute to his own greatness on the public mall in Washington, and ordered the minting of a new coin with a visage of his own face on both sides? And at an economic time when millions of Americans are struggling just to make basic ends meet.
Well, to be fair, there isn't much to imagine on that account as Obama would never have felt the need to stoop to such a self-aggrandizing low of venerating himself at taxpayer expense, no matter how successful his presidency had been, because he is a better man than that.
But now imagine a twice-impeached, coup-plotting, convicted felon, adjudicated rapist, and suspected child rapist doing all of the above mentioned acts.
Everything we are witnessing with Drumpf right now is an open window showing just how far from the path of honor, decency, truth, and moral values that American conservatives and Republicans have strayed, and with every passing day we see further evidence as to the extent of damage being done to our society and our American heritage by that moral decay.
