The Smithsonian Institution will unveil a photo portrait of comedian George Carlin today at The National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C. 

He was picked by a public vote, as the comedian who "who most influenced American politics, history and culture," according to the New York Times. The choices were Groucho Marx, Ellen DeGeneres and George Carlin.

This man single-handedly told the United States Supreme Court --- 'I dare you -- convict me of saying a few words in public that offend people.'

And he won.

God, if you're up there and you truly do care about goodness and honesty, bless George Carlin's soul every goddamn day please.  Fucking Thank you.
