Conservatives: Finding New Ways to Give More Americans Reasons to Despise Them

If anything, you really do have to give conservatives credit for being consistent in their hateful boorishness:

Michigan lawmakers passed a controversial measure on Wednesday that will ban all insurance plans in the state from covering abortion unless the woman's life is in danger. The law, which takes effect in March, will force women and employers to purchase a separate abortion rider if they would like the procedure covered, even in cases of rape and incest.

You get that ladies?  If you are unlucky enough to have your home broken in to and are violently raped, or if you are a teen living at home who is raped by her father, and in either case you become impregnated, you better hope that you have had the foresight to have purchased a rape insurance rider ahead of time, otherwise the expense of that abortion you are now needing is going to be coming out of your own pocket.

Allow The Gadfly to put this in to perspective for those of you (talking mainly to you fellas) who fail to grasp the larger meaning of this insidious legislation.

Say for the sake of this argument here that you decide to go out hunting on a fenced in farm with your good buddy.  Your buddy has quaffed back a few too many beers prior to the hunt and as he's lining up to shoot to smithereens some poor Quail that is cornered along the fence line, your buddy let's go with a mighty beer belch just as he pulls the trigger of his .12 guage pump shotgun and the barrel swings around unexpectedly and peppers your face with buckshot.  You go to the hospital for emergency care and the admitting nurse asks you whether you have a health insurance rider which specifically covers drunken, redneck pals shooting you in the face with a shotgun.  And as you have never heard of something so ridiculously unfair, you say no - of course not. And so the admitting nurse then tells you, as you stand in front of her with your bloodied face, that in order for you to receive treatment in their facility, you will be forced to sign a promissory note stating that you accept full financial responsibility for that treatment, because the condition which you are suffering from is not covered under your blanket health insurance policy.

Get it now?

Somehow The Gadfly believes that Harry Whittington would not have stood quietly for being dealt with so unfairly if a law of such a despicable and malignant nature had been in place at the time of his unfortunate experience with Dick Cheney.

And therefore it goes without saying that American women should not tolerate this kind of repugnant legislation that is straight out of the neanderthal brains of a bunch of old, spiteful, white, bible thumping conservative assholes.

Speak out now ladies, or forever hold your peace.
