The problem comes in No. 4. Boehner isn't going to simply shrug, say he tried, and bring the Senate bill to the floor. He'll shrug, say he tried, and tell his members that they should let him bring the Senate bill to the floor. He'll say it's because they need to save their fire for the debt ceiling fight, where they can force the White House to delay Obamacare for a year by threatening to trigger a global financial crisis. In fact, this is already the message he's delivering to his members.http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/wonkblog/wp/2013/09/20/john-boehner-is-being-even-more-irresponsible-than-ted-cruz/
The Gadfly believes that it is way beyond safe at this point to unambiguously postulate that when one party of a two-party political system is openly advocating for triggering a global financial crisis, and by virtue of such, consigning the nation's tepid recovery from one of the worst economic periods in history to the shitcan of no return -- just because they don't want more of their fellow Americans to have access to affordable health care, then that party is wholly and indubitably batshit fucking, mindnumbingly, horrifyingly goddamned insane.
Is it any wonder the late, great George Carlin gave up on having any hope for a positive outcome of this nation's destiny quite some time ago? He saw the writing on the wall and the coming of these Tea Party jackals way before anyone else did:
The Gadfly, sadly, is beginning to see Carlin's point of view much more clearly these days. The Gadfly wonders if he can ever bring himself to that penultimate apex of just infinitely not caring about America's future any more.
Dunno' - but one thing is for certain -- the conservative Republicans and the Teabaggers sure are paving the way for that decision to be made with a great deal less angst and fear.
