The Gadfly wishes President Obama would just end this stupid and cynical charade of faux outrage hot potato surrounding the NSA surveillance program:

WASHINGTON -- Revelations of massive data mining by the National Security Agency have prompted a blame game between the White House and Congress over how much responsibility each has for the program.

President Barack Obama on Friday defended his administration’s broad surveillance operations by arguing that checks and balances ensure privacy concerns were addressed. If they weren’t, he added, citizens could point the finger at Congress in addition to him.

If The Gadfly were able to commandeer, for one 24 hour period and in the interest of public service, the entire gamut of public airwaves in the United States, he would transmit an endlessly looping broadcast blast message to his fellow citizens, targeted specifically at those most outraged by this issue.  That message, as you dear reader might guess, would sound something like this (with the Green Day song 'American Idiot' playing softly in the background):

The Gadly does not know why all of you people are so outraged by all of this spying stuff - seriously, face it - it was you morons, who in a fit of panic and overwrought fear after the 9//11 attacks, impulsively, and without forethought, forked over your 1st and 4th thru 10th amendment rights to your equally cowardly political leaders to do with as they please - so really - stfu now because the damage you have caused is done, and unless you intend to set aside petty political differences, band together and collectively hold your elected leaders accountable for their unconstitutional transgressions, The Gadfly morally, ethically, spiritually, physically, positively, absolutely, undeniable, reliably, and most sincerely -- does not give a shit.

Along with the IRS, Benghazi!Benghaz!!Behghazi!!!, and usual wingnut hyper-partisan buffoonery, The Gadly just knows that it is going to be one tiresomely long, hot and stupid summer.
