Here's a fascinating Business Insider article that just also so happens to be the quintessential raison d'etre for why this country's economic and business infrastructure is a nothing more than a fraudulent house of slave labor cards whose inevitable demise is not a matter of debate, but simply a matter of when.
The subject of the article is the question as to why McDonald's employees are so "rude and unprofessional."
The author of this article, a very natty Wall Street type looking fellow named Chris DeRose, who promotes himself in his bio as a "management expert specializing in the development of leaders," nonchalantly ticks off a list of organizational changes that McDonald's Corp. can and should implement to enhance the company's "unfriendly service" conundrum. Here is the management expert's list:
1. Create shared emotion around delivering a great customer experience.
2. Keep simplifying work processes and rules.
3. Invest more in tools and training.
4. Reward and recognize great service.

The Gadfly's translation of that list?
1. RAH! RAH TEAM! GO TEAM GO!! SERVICE WITH A SMILE!!!
2. Dumb down the work environment to be even more demeaning than it already is.
3. Bigger deep fryers and higher capacity microwave ovens and an additional week of unpaid training at Mickey D. University.
4. Happy stickers on your paycheck envelope for smiling while serving shitty food to obese zombie people.
Sigh . . . . .
Anyone perchance notice what is curiously missing from Mr. DeRose's intellectually divined list? Here's a clue:
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Not even a passing mention of anything resembling a suggestion about possibly paying employees a living wage and/or offering them benefits that might make them happy, shiny, smiling employees. Nada. Zilch.
But The Gadfly understands that this is the now predominant mindset among the elite corporate class in America. The dreaded thought of adding .20 cents to the price of a 1200 calorie shit burger in order to pay an employee a buck above minimum wage and perhaps even providing some low level of healthcare benefits does not even register in these fucker's brains.
All four of DeRose's recommendations inherently assume that there is something defective with the employee and if only the employee would lick management's boots to a brighter shine and go along with the program more docilely - then all would be wonderful with the world.
Every day that passes in which The Gadfly sees Americans meekly accepting these increasingly crappy jobs with lower pay, and no benefits and more oppressive work environments makes The Gadfly wonder whether or not this grand experiment of our founder's dreams is deserving of enduring.
Something has to change - and it needs to be dramatic, decisive and bolstered by national and majority outrage.
There needs to be a national debate about how the neo-corporate vampire squids are transforming America into the world's preeminent banana republic -- albeit one with a flimsily constructed facade of democracy. The sooner we have this conversation, the sooner we the people can demand meaningful change.
