It was quite fortunate for ol' Pistol Pete that his Fox "news" salary at the time was sufficient enough to afford him the ability to pay off the woman with a cash settlement and get her to sign an NDA about the incident. I say fortunate, because the police report from the incident sure as hell suggested Hegseth had raped the woman.
But here's the point I want to make.
First and foremost - fuck Eric Swalwell if the allegations against him are true, and reports I have read so far indicate they probably are. Democrat and friend of liberals, and allied Drumpf antagonist or not, that kind of predatory behavior and betrayal of trust is not acceptable ever, more so by those in positions of power and public influence such as the Governor of a major state, the political post Swalwell aspires to. What a colossal fucking dickhead and and even bigger disappointment he is.
I fully expect the majority if not all Democrats to pressure Swalwell to exit Democratic politics altogether should these allegations be proven to be true. Because that would be the properly moral thing to do. Whether Swalwell will have the inner moral courage and personal decency to depart quietly remains to be seen.
Now - on the other end of the moral values political spectrum - the American people's White House is currently occupied by Donald Trump, an individual who has openly bragged about sexually assaulting women at random ("grab them by the pussy"), who has committed adultery with every one of his wives, who pays porn actresses for sex, who has openly fantasized about having sex with his own daughter, who has been credibly accused of sexual assault by more than 25 women, who was determined by a US court of law to be a 'rapist,' and who at present time is highly suspected of being a child rapist based on the fact that of the 3.5 million 'Epstein Files' child sex ring documents released so far, DonOld's name is mentioned over one million times in them with the only other person getting more mentions being Jeffrey Epstein himself.
Most of Drumpf's predatory sexual activity occurred prior to his ascension to the White House and most of it was publicly documented. Now with the steady-drip release of the 'Epstein Files' it has become increasingly clear just how depraved an individual that DonOld not only has been most of his execrable adult life, but quite likely still is to this day.
And yet Drumpf's supporters are consistently steadfast in their view that the individual who bragged to then Access Hollywood co-host Billy Bush that he had the right to sexually assault unsuspecting women by "grabbing" their vaginas because he was a "star," continue to remain in that exalted American office, with many of them wishing his putrid presence could be permanent.
And that is why I could not give less of a shit whenever I hear some conservative Trump Republican voter/supporter lecturing myself, or anyone else for that matter on the subject of "moral values" or "family values," or proselytizing their "Christian values." I am not the least bit interested in listening to the reproaching views about Eric Swalwell from the same people who have turned blind eyes and deaf ears to the bursting totality of Drumpf's criminality and voluminous reports of his lifelong, vile sexual proclivities.
What possible manner of value could exist in "moral values" which permit one to worship, support, and yes, vote for a mobbed up convicted felon, charlatan, and criminal sex fiend like Donald Trump anyway? I would stipulate that those are quite simply valueless values, unworthy of possessing, and I don't believe it can be stated it any more bluntly than that.

This is all in line with reports of his selling pardons at a $1 million a pop to his criminal friends, supporters, and financial benefactors. Go read up on some of the people who have been on the gracious receiving end of one of Drumpf's criminal pardons or commutations. It is a literal laundry list of seriously wretched crooks and scumbags unlike we've seen from any previous president's list of pardons.
Speaking of POTUS's prior - do you know who didn't have to bribe his staff with the promise of preemptive criminal pardons as he was exiting the White House? Joe Biden. Just saying.

So essentially what happened was that Mr. 'Art of the Deal' Drumpf struck a big, 'yooge "deal" to reopen a world strategic shipping channel that had been open freely to the world before Bibi and Don launched their Big Iran Armageddon Adventure.
And with DonOld's "deal" Iran gets to not only maintain unilateral control over the Strait of Hormuz, they get to start charging $2 million a ship as a passage fee. And when you add up the numbers based on the fact that 200-300 ships pass thru that channel every day, it adds up to around $150 billion a year in fresh revenue for the Iranian government which will no doubt be used by Iran to rebuild their government and military infrastructure that has been leveled by US and Israeli bombs.
Drumpf and Netanyahu's bombing campaign has killed thousands of Iranian civilians, including a couple of hundred innocent schoolgirls.
Israel has expanded their genocidal rage to Lebanon.
A dozen and a half US troops are dead and purportedly up to 700 wounded.
An untold number of physical US military assets in the theater have been destroyed by Iranian missiles and drones, and US ammunition stocks have been depleted.
Hundreds of billions of your American taxpayer dollars have been spent on this boondoggle and it isn't anywhere near over. Dumbass DonOld got himself involved in a situation way beyond his and his moron administration's ability to manage and now we get to sit back and watch Iran become the Kingpins of world trade as America's prestige, honor, and economic might wither.
Here in the US, gas prices are steadily rising, food and other costs are going up, jobs reports are gloomy, and a global economic recession is predicted if the Strait of Hormuz remains closed for anything more than a couple of more weeks.
For anyone who cares - a global economic recession equates to destroyed American 401k's, lost homes, farms, small businesses, layoffs, long lasting higher gas prices, long lasting inflation, and a general, further degradation of what remains of the tattered 'American Dream.'
So yeah - helluva "deal" DonOld made there after his poor judgment and decision making allowed Bibi Netanyahu to bait him into this stupid, pointless war.
Drumpf and MAGA are going to essentially destroy the future economic vitality of an entire generation of Americans with their stupidity, and we haven't even begun to see the worst of the effects impact us yet from this Iranian war buffoonery.

Here's the thing though. Just over a month ago, the Strait of Hormuz was open to the world and gas was $2.40 a gallon (in my geographic region), and Iran was a threat to nobody other than their Middle East neighbors, most notably, Israel, and the Iranian's "obliterated" (per Drumpf and Hegseth) nuclear program was nowhere near the point of being able to produce a nuclear weapon (per Drumpf's own military and intel people).
And then along came Bibi Netanyahu to whisper sweet words of 'Epstein Files' kompromat encouragement (my own conspiracy theory) in Drumpf's ear and the next thing you know, right in the middle of ongoing negotiations with the Iranians, DonOld joins Bibi in embarking on their Big Iran Armageddon Adventure with a surprise tag-team bombing campaign against Israel's arch-nemesis.
This is a war of Israel's choice and Drumpf's fucking arrogance and stupidity.

Now that it has been reported that a US F-15 fighter jet was shot down in Iran and only one of the two pilots rescued by US military, the Iranians, if they were to play by the same "no quarter" rules that Kegsbreath has stupidly threatened to do, would be on the same moral standing as the United States if they were to capture and execute that US pilot.
There's a reason why Drumpf and Hegseth have purged the US of good, honorable, competent officers and replaced them with unqualified, obsequious quislings just like Ol' Pistol Pete himself.
A prime example of the fallout of having unprincipled 'yes men' in your officer corp? Dispatching the power and might of the Unites States Navy to blow up purported drug-running fishing boats in the open seas, and I say purported because Hegseth and his people have yet to produce a shred of evidence that every one of these boats were running drugs and every one of the nearly 200 humans whom they have no due-process killed so far was a drug smuggler (which is not a capital offense btw).
Sending the Navy to double-tap kill the survivors of one of those early fishing boat missile strikes is where Hegseth's legal jeopardy begins, but doesn't end.
Same goes for the double-tap bombing of the girl's school in Tehran on the opening day of Bibi and Don's Big Iran Armageddon Adventure that killed upwards of 200 children is likely to generate another ICC probe of Ol Pistol Pete.
Yet another double-tap bombing of an Iranian civilian bridge yesterday which blew up a bunch of civilians, a bridge which Hegseth claimed was an actively used conduit for the Iranian military to move missiles from site to site, which is a lie as it was well known and US intel confirmed that the bridge was still under construction and hadn't even opened for traffic yet.
All of that combined with threats from both Drumpf and Hegseth to destroy Iran's civilian infrastructure such as electricity plants and desalination plants (fresh drinking water - a human necessity) would be additional acts that could conceivably kill millions and could land Ol Pistol Pete and perhaps even DonOld himself some time in the docket at The Hague.
Therefore, I really don't find it at all that surprising that Hegseth's underlings have little respect for him, or that they mock his bufoonery, his incompetence, and his fake, tough guy 'warrior-ethos' dog and pony show, but most of all I am pretty damn sure that most of them certainly don't appreciate being used as pawns in the commission of war crimes by a day drunk, Fox "news" weekend talk show co-host flunky who is laughably out of his league when it comes to the responsibility of leading our nation's great military and military people.
