The Gadfly begs pardon for the impropriety, but one truly does just have to laugh, for if you allow the revolting reality of it all to infest your soul, you'll just go stark-raving mad:
JPMorgan Chase has struck a tentative deal with the Justice Department to pay a record $13 billion over dodgy mortgage products — but the biggest U.S. bank may be able to slash that bill by paying Uncle Sam less in taxes.
Details of the pact are now being finalized, but it is expected to include $9 billion paid to the government and $4 billion in relief for wronged customers.

You see kids -- the game truly is rigged. There simply is no other way to explain how it is possible for a company to engage in criminal behavior that has directly contributed to a WORLD-WIDE economic crisis, causing untold suffering and ruined lives and futures for millions, only to pay a fine that is pennies on the dollar compared to their profit margin, no individual actors held accountable, and in the end the company just writes off the entire degenerate affair as a business expense/tax credit.
And where, pray tell, is the Ted Cruz/Tea Party outrage at all of this news? [ ♪♪ crickets chirping ♪♪ ] That's right.
