Holy Shit! Literally!:
In an interview with New York Magazine, Justice Antonin Scalia said that he believed in the Christian demon.
The interview with Jennifer Senior turned to theology, with Senior asking if Scalia believed in heaven and hell. He said he did, but that he didn't believe you had to be Catholic to get into heaven. "I don’t even know whether Judas Iscariot is in hell. I mean, that’s what the pope meant when he said, 'Who am I to judge?' He may have recanted and had severe penance just before he died. Who knows?"
He added to Senior in a loud whisper, "I even believe in the Devil."
"If you are faithful to Catholic dogma, that is certainly a large part of it," he continued.
When Senior asked what evidence he'd seen that the devil existed lately, he said that "In the Gospels, the Devil is doing all sorts of things. He's making pigs run off cliffs, he's possessing people and whatnot."http://crooksandliars.com/john-amato/antonin-scalia-devil-making-pigs-run-cl
And just so The Gadfly is clear on this -- this Scalia fellow, who is referenced above and who believes the Devil is "making pigs run off cliffs," "possessing people and whatnot," and enticing women in to using the dread "F-word" in public (read the NY Mag article), is modern conservatism's intellectual giant?
And is it any wonder then that the advancement of human civilization in America has been stopped dead in it's fucking tracks?
