You Can Compare Apples to Oranges, But Don't Compare Bulldogs to Poodles....

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (R) sent out a couple of tweets on Tuesday to blast Obama while comparing Donald Trump to Winston Churchill.

In his first tweet, Huckabee said he has seen "The Darkest Hour about Churchill and said it reminds him of what "real leadership looks like."

"Churchill was hated by his own party, opposition party, and press. Feared by King as reckless, and despised for his bluntness," Huckabee tweeted. "But unlike Neville Chamberlain, he didn't retreat. We had a Chamberlain for 8 yrs; in @realDonaldTrump we have a Churchill."

Donald Trump = Winston Churchill.   That is some spectacularly special manner of ignis fatuus there dear readers.  Fluffers far and wide bow in marveled homage.

Winston Churchill was a highly decorated military officer who saw combat in several of Great Britain's wars and military actions prior to becoming British Prime Minister in 1940, where he subsequently led the English to victory in Europe along with the allied forces in WW2 over Hitler's Germany.

As for Drumpf .... well - The Gadfly supposes that in the tiny, infirm minds of his supporters - he's a war hero too.  Hell - they even have video proof - observe:

The Gadfly does not doubt for one moment that Mike Huckabee, and probably most of Drumpf's supporters, actually believes that horseshit.  But The Gadfly has said it before, and he will state it yet again -- those are precisely the kinds of deranged views that make these modern-day American conservatives, in The Gadfly's honest opinion, the foremost internal threat to the future of the United States and what remains of it's democracy as we know it.

Fasten Seat Belts . . . . Turbulence Ahead . . . .

Intertoobs scuttlebutt says that something big is coming . . . .

Look for Drumpf to make his move this coming week or two to try and shut down the Robert Mueller special counsel investigation -- with Republican (to what extent? TBD) complicity.  It's going to get ugly and it's going to make Richard Nixon's Saturday Night Massacre pale in comparison as a direct threat to our constitutional laws which are the heart of America's civic life.

The foremost question that comes to The Gadfly's mind is -- who are you dear reader going to put your trust in?  A highly decorated U.S. Combat Marine who has master degrees in international studies and law, and a man who has had an impeccable career as an assistant attorney general, and as a U.S. Attorney who headed the prosecution that led to the convictions of the Pan Am 103 Libyan terrorists, and finally, a man who served with distinction as the head of the F.B.I. under both Republican and Democratic Presidents.

Or - are you going to entrust your future this lying, two-faced motherfucker:


Banning Words? Is This The Beginning of the End of the American Experiment?...

The Gadfly is not an alarmist by any means, but some of the shit that this administration is doing in the background right now, while everyone is distracted and wringing their hands about the Mueller investigation outcome, is simply stunning, and yes, fucking alarming.

The Trump administration is prohibiting officials at the nation’s top public health agency from using a list of seven words or phrases — including “fetus” and “transgender” — in any official documents being prepared for next year’s budget.

Policy analysts at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta were told of the list of forbidden words at a meeting Thursday with senior CDC officials who oversee the budget, according to an analyst who took part in the 90-minute briefing. The forbidden words are “vulnerable,” “entitlement,” “diversity,” “transgender,” “fetus,” “evidence-based” and “science-based.”

In some instances, the analysts were given alternative phrases. Instead of “science-based” or ­“evidence-based,” the suggested phrase is “CDC bases its recommendations on science in consideration with community standards and wishes,” the person said. In other cases, no replacement words were immediately offered.

If they can utilize the power of the state to ban specific words, then who or what is to stop them from taking it to the next logical step - the banning and sharing of ideas and opinions and the right to pursue certain unalienable rights?

This is the kind of totalitarian edict that The Gadfly would expect to hear that Vladimir Putin and his Kremlin political associates had issued and who in fact do so all the time.

Let's do a cursory review of this list of seven dirty words that the CDC has been informed that they are forbidden from using in their policy papers shall we?

Let's take a look at the most obvious one first -

Fetus.  It's no secret that Drumpf has thrown his political lot in with the evangelicals and abortion is the hot potato issue that gets their loins all hot and bothered.  It's the proverbial bone thrown to a radical group who are determined to control the reproductive rights of every woman in this country and which is really just a gateway issue they use as cover to see their Christian reconstruction plans for ruling the nation are advanced.

Vulnerable.  When The Gadfly thinks of the word "vulnerable" in the context of a political, socioeconomic discussion, he thinks of the elderly, the poor, the physically disabled, immigrants, people with no access to affordable health or mental health care, the homeless, etc.  Conservatives don't like the word because it appeals to good people's hearts and souls too easily and god forbid that we have public servants who demonstrate any empathy toward their suffering fellow citizens as they discharge their government duties.

Entitlement.  Apparently, any government program that enhances the quality of life of an American while shaving a few cents on the dollar off of some billionaire's tax cut is an "entitlement" and once again it's a word that conservatives do not like to bandy about except in the context of  it being a vehicle for some undeserving Americans (usually the darker-skinned ones) to take something that they have no right to.

Transgender and diversityBigotry and racism, pure and simple.  Aside from the abortion issue, if there's one thing that modern, alt-right conservatives hate more, it's people of different skin colors, different cultures, languages and lifestyles, different religions, and open-minded ideas about how to govern a nation of such diverse citizens.

And lastly.

Evidence-based and science-based.  The Centers for Disease Control are scientists.  It's what they do.  They study the science and collect the best available evidence about a wide range of public health issues with the goal of protecting the American populace from dangerous health threats that if not addressed and dealt with could very well compromise our national security.  The Gadfly would think that any American who considers themselves sane and reasonable would want scientists who have this thankless job to be all about evidence-based and science-based analysis when they study these critical national health issues and issue national policies to deal with them.

And just curious -- what is the penalty should a scientist consciously make the decision to speak out publicly using any of these banned words?  Demotion?  Loss of job.  Economic sanctions?  Legal persecution up to and including arrest and imprisonment?

Drumpf and the conservative right are treading dangerously close to authoritarianism with shit like this dear readers.  And it needs to be clarified right here and now that there is a clear line to be crossed, and by their own evidence-based actions and words,  the right seems to be quite willing to do so at some future point should they ever gain unfettered power.  And it goes without saying that should that moment come to pass, then perhaps it's time to dust off these hallowed words and put them to good use:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Not by any stretch of the imagination does The Gadfly consider himself a horseman.  But The Gadfly has seen enough John Wayne westerns and Bonanza re-runs to be pretty fucking confident that that is not how a real cowboy and real man - at least one who legitimately knows something about horses - rides one.

That has has got to be some of the most sad-sack style of horse-riding The Gadfly has seen since Billy Crystal proved that nice Jewish yuppies from the city can't ride in "City Slickers."

Roy Moore broadcasts the depths of his desperation by pulling this idiotic stunt.  But Moore, just like Trump, knows who his base is and he knows they will love him all the more for it and stiffen their resolve to continue ignoring the monstrous reality staring them in the eyes - namely that they are about to quite possibly elect a child molester to high public office.

The Gadfly honestly does not know what answers or solutions there are to dealing with the disturbing realization that about a quarter or so of our country's citizenry are just flat out mother fucking insane.  All that The Gadfly does know is that if the rest of us don't confront these people and deal openly and determinedly with their bullshit, and instead allow it spread -- it most assuredly will be the end of democracy as we presently know it.

Have Yourself a Merry Little FakeNews Christmas . . . . .

Fox "News" has been playing their gullible viewers for suckers for a very, very long time and The Gadfly probably sounds like a broken record to his dear readers for regularly pointing this actuality out, but it has gotten to the point where they aren't even trying to obfuscate their public chicanery anymore - they just lay the deceit right out there, and proudly so, for the world to see:

The insinuation by this dim bulb bimbo Kayleigh McEnany is that, finally - after 8 years of heathen contamination of the white people's white house, Drump is  long-awaited savior of their sacred, yet liberal-besieged birthday celebration of baby Jeebus.

They actually believe that the benign act of just mouthing the words "Merry Christmas" by dear leader Drumpf, and in the context of a rallying cry to his cult members, is unquestionable evidence that dear leader is a proud and patriotic American, a "real" American, unafraid to utter the divine Christmas greeting -- unlike that filthy, Kenyan Muslim - Obama.  Conservatives like McEnany are convinced that Barack Obama, in deference to his "secret" Muslim religious views, consciously chose not to ever use the words "merry" and "Christmas" as adjective and noun respectively in a sentence ----

This is why The Gadfly attacks Fox "News" so relentlessly dear readers -- it has nothing to do with their penchant for skewering heavily to the right on everyday, boilerplate partisan politics on their network.  No - it has everything to do with a racist, fascist Australian billionaire, Rupert Murdoch, being granted the privilege and the trust to broadcast over the American public airwaves, and abusing that trust by knowingly spreading lies and misinformation, with the principle goal of advancing his chosen political ideology and a political movement.  That dear readers is the burr under The Gadfly's saddle that gets him so riled up about Fox "news" and the asinine, insidious shit like this "war on Christmas" hogwash that his lowbrow network has been peddling for years.

It takes some pretty fucking shameless and diabolical motivations to promulgate a swindle over the public airwaves that is consciously designed to frighten old people, young children - and the just plain dumb - in to believing that people like The Gadfly want to culturally expunge, or even outright ban, the uttering of the words "Merry Christmas".  More than anything though, it demonstrates to The Gadfly's eyes just how desperate the conservative movement must be for them to have to keep feeding their believers this steady, mind-numbing diet of manufactured fear and hatred and stupidity, and that is liberally laced with active strains of bigotry, nationalism and religious zealotry.

If humanity survives these dangerous times we live in, history will not look kindly upon Rupert Murdoch and his Palpatine-like media empire for the mischief and troubles they have wrought to the well being of the human condition - and rightly so.

To The Gadfly it is all the more reason to stand up and speak out now.  There is a battle for the soul of this country going on, with some very dark and humanity and democracy despising elements involved.  It just needs to be acknowledged that they who win that battle, also win the privilege of writing the history.

There's Much At Stake in This Coming Constitutional Ground War . . . Don't Fuck it Up America...

That slow burning fuse inches ever closer to it's inevitable powder-keg explosion:

Special counsel Robert Mueller has taken his Russia investigation closer to the heart of Donald Trump, looking into the finances of the president and his family.
Oh dear! . . .
Mueller has asked Deutsche Bank to share information on accounts held by the Trump family as part of his investigation into Russia’s alleged attempts to influence the 2016 election, Reuters reported Tuesday. The bank has loaned the Trump organization millions of dollars over the years.
Trump does not like revealing details of his finances. He still hasn’t released his tax returns, unlike other presidents in recent history.
And in July, Trump implied that he would consider firing Mueller if he started looking into his finances.

Trump openly threatened Mueller that any attempt to gather information on the Trump empire's shady finances would be crossing a red line.  If this story is accurate, Bob Mueller has rumbled past Dapper Don's scary red line, driving an M1 Abrams Tank, and shooting bunker-busting shells that have the entire text of the United States Constitution emblazoned on their casings.  This would be Mueller's purposefully obtuse way of telegraphing Trump directly and warning him that he is not, in any way, shape or form, above the fucking law - PERIOD.

All that The Gadfly knows is that something is going to have to give here soon -- you've got the tectonic plates of oligarch-financed politics and constitutional law rubbing against each other and the stress levels of this impending confrontation are steadily intensifying.

People had better start paying attention to this shit.  Some real history making stuff is coming down the pike and the outcome of this battle of forces is going to quite likely determine whether this nation moves forward in the best interests of the American people's freedoms and way of life or whether it takes a darker and less democracy-friendly path.

John Dowd, President Trump's outside lawyer, outlined to me a new and highly controversial defense/theory in the Russia probe: A president cannot be guilty of obstruction of justice.
The "President cannot obstruct justice because he is the chief law enforcement officer under [the Constitution's Article II] and has every right to express his view of any case," Dowd claims.

Holy shit!  They actually went there.  The argument is - Trump is above the law by sole virtue of his chief-executive status.

Before he left office, Barack Obama said his goal was to steer clear of the political spotlight — as George W. Bush had done when he left the White House — giving the new president room to govern without Obama's shouldering into every debate with the megaphone that being a former commander in chief affords.
But a Fox Business commentator said Obama violated that unwritten rule with a recent comment about Trump’s tweets. What’s more, according to Fox Business host Lou Dobbs, that violation should merit arrest.
“I think U.S. marshals should follow [Obama], and anytime he wants to go follow the president like he is and behave [like that],” Dobbs said on his show Friday. “I mean, this is just bad manners. It’s boorish and it’s absurd and he doesn’t realize how foolish he looks.”
“I mean, he should be brought back by the marshals. Isn’t there some law that says presidents shouldn’t be attacking sitting presidents?
The Obama comments in question came during a leadership forum in India, according to The Washington Post’s Annie Gowen.
Someone asked Obama about recent comments made by his wife, Michelle, in Toronto: The former first lady said it was never a good idea to “tweet from bed,” a not-so-subtle commentary on Trump’s early-morning social media habits.
In New Delhi, her husband agreed.
“Michelle was giving the general idea. … Don’t say the first thing that pops in your head. Have a little bit of an edit function,” he said. “Think before you speak. Think before you tweet.”

"Isn't there some law that says presidents shouldn't be attacking [or mocking?..] sitting presidents?"

Umm -- no numbnuts.  There isn't.  And never has been - for reasons being which any truly good citizen and mindful student of our constitution should know.

Wow -- advocating for the criminalizing of what pretty can pretty much be defined as - teasing?

But follow the [lack of] logic here if you can dear readers.

In a recent interview, former first lady Michelle Obama made an off-hand observation/comment as to how it is probably not a good idea for some people (yes we all know who she was -wink, wink - talking about, even though she did not mention his name) to tweet from their beds.  The advice, in and of itself, was, in The Gadfly's not-so-humble opinion, so thoroughly benign - to the point of tepidness.

Then, days later, while giving a speech in India, someone asked the former President himself what he thought of his wife's words of wisdom.  Obama, also quite indifferently, and not mentioning names, said something to the effect that his wife was simply offering up some fairly basic and sound advice about people blasting there opinions in to the sphere of public discourse - haphazardly and arrogantly, oft times with unthinking malice.  Once again - sound, benevolent advice.

And for that transgression Lou Dobbs feels Barack Obama should be arrested by the U.S. Marshals abroad and hauled back to the United States to face charges of, exactly what, Dobbs does not specify.

Poor Lou Dobbs - he's either just as demented as his beloved Donald, or perhaps the ravages of old age are beginning to take their toll on his senses - which of course, would be unfortunate.  Either way, the suggestion to arrest Obama because he may or may not have hurt the delicate fee-fees of dear leader, is decidedly deranged, undemocratic, and un-American.

This is why the modern-day conservative movement needs to be stood up to.  Because if these right wingers like old man Dobbs had their way, they would be arresting people who dared to exercise their free-speech rights or speak of dear leader in an unflattering manner publicly and openly.  They would unblinkingly use the power of the state to stifle freedom of speech and political dissent and yes - lock up their political opponents.

Listen -- The gadfly, and millions of others in this country, weathered eight fucking years of right wing, Tea Party nastiness, boorishness (btw -perfect word Mr. Dobbs), and hatefulness toward, and lying about and smearing the personal integrity of a pretty goddamn decent man in Barack Obama.  The number that the conservatives did on Obama's character and legitimacy as president transcended pure, old school political sore losing.

The Gadfly will flatly stipulate in fact, that if  there is anyone who can stand up and state, with aforethought and straight face, that the right's treatment of Obama wasn't deliberately spiteful and viciously bigoted throughout Obama's tenure - you most certainly were not paying very careful attention or you you are someone who possesses no reservations about lying to yourself.  And Donald fucking Trump was an active participant in those despicable efforts with his birther assholery.

Thankfully Obama took all of that noxious behavior in stride with the utmost class and dignity, ignored the lunatics in the asylum, and just did the best job he could under the circumstances that he was saddled with.  Obama's behavior was that of a rational, thoughtful adult.  His behavior in office was that fitting a true leader and real man -- unlike the conceited, duplicitous, rage tweeting toddler currently squatting in the people's white house.

As such, in The Gadfly's view, Donald Trump and his Russian friends are the natural byproduct of conservatism's flirtations with totalitarianism and aryan nationalism over the past few decades.  Their wholesale rejection of the basic concepts of truth, reality and fairness has inflicted a deep wound in the soul of this nation and this incredible experiment in democracy.  And as far as The Gadfly is concerned, Donald Trump's political head on a Robert Mueller III served up platter will be the first step toward setting things right for America's and democracy's futures.

Finally -- let's not mince words here -- the conservative movement, of which Lou Dobbs is a card carrying member, owns Trump.  They own Trump's crimes (hopefully we are going to find out about those crimes very soon here).  They will own Trump's legacy and his sordid place in history.  There is no fucking getting around that inalterable reality.

It doesn't take much to ridicule Trump, his own actions and Tweet storms pretty much write that daily satire script all of their own accord.  So Fuck Trump and Fuck Lou Dobbs if they don't like it.

Trump the Russian stooge is fucking toast - stick a fork in his fat, treasonous ass.

You want to know dear readers what the true Karmic justice is in all of this?

And the Trump voters can whine and moan all that they want to on AM radio and on right wing media comment forums that this is  "fake news" to which The Gadfly would respond -- go ask Robert Mueller III if any of this is fake to him?  Ask the grand jury members who are reviewing the evidence Mueller's team is presenting to them if it's fake.  Ask those same grand jurists if any of the indictments that they are preparing to hand down are fake.

There was a point in time that The Gadfly thought that he might feel kind of bad for Trump supporters if this administration didn't succeed.  Not any more.  Not a fucking bit.  They all have had this coming to them for some time and the sooner that the entire rotten lot of them are swept from power, and yes, even locked up if the evidence demands it, the infinitely better this country will be for it.

Lock them up!  Lock them up!!  Lock them up!!!


This Ends Badly For All if Now is Not The Right Time for Courage...

The Gadfly is curious -- how many of you feel that a nuclear holocaust, and likely third world war would be an acceptable price to pay for a bunch of asshole's right to piss off liberals??

The Gadfly used to have all manner of political disagreements with Joe Scarborough when he was a jerk conservative Republican congressman from Florida.  But things have changed - and apparently so has Scarborough.

Scarborough has enough sense about him to be cognizant of potential calamity when he sees it and boy, does he lay it all out on the line in this video.  Observe:

"Tell me. General Mattis, when is it polite to bring this up in polite society? Rex Tillerson, when is this the right time to talk about a mentally unstable president in the White House and a nuclear showdown with another unstable madman in North Korea? Is it after the first nuclear missiles fly? What exactly is the right time . . .?"

Scarborough isn't saying anything out loud in that video that a great many of us, including The Gadfly, haven't been thinking and saying for quite some time.  He's just a day late and a dollar short to the Trump is a Madman square dance.

To put it simply dear readers -- if Joe Scarborough's worst fears are realized -- life as you, The Gadfly, Joe Scarborough and everyone else on this planet presently knows it, ceases to exist.  That is what we are talking about here.

The Abject Horror of Indecency Shell Shock...

So this happened . . . :

President Trump's use of "Pocahontas" as an insult during a ceremony honoring Native Americans on Monday set off a range of reactions about whether the term's racially insensitive.
In this case, Native American leaders said, it was.

The Gadfly arrived home from work yesterday and read about this story, and watched the video of it as well.

And The Gadfly sat back and thought about it, and thought about it, and The Gadfly was so shell-shocked by the utter abomination of it all that he thought about it all the way through today.

And The Gadfly ultimately arrived late this afternoon at the conclusion that this country has either a very depraved, very mentally unstable individual running the country or one who quite simply is pure, unadulterated evil.

Our soulless, intellectual and emotional growth-stunted President used the setting of a majestic, patriotic, and somber ceremony for Native American World War 2 vets (the infamous code talkers) to taunt and insult one of his political enemies - and smirk about it.  The verbal insult utilized a famous Native American's name to slur the character of one of his political rivals.  Bad enough right?   But he did this, while standing in front of an oil painting of the 7th President of the U.S. Andrew Jackson - he of the fiendish "Trail of Tears" fame whose policies and actions toward Native Americas earned him the nickname "Indian Killer."

The Gadfly was so flabbergasted that a national leader, the President of the United States no less, would descend to such spiritually warped depths, in such a venue, and in the middle of that kind of prideful occasion - just to score a couple of dirt cheap political points ... well, it just so befuddled The Gadfly's senses that it blew his mind for an entire fucking day.

The Gadfly was pondering what to write about this sordid episode on his shitty little blog throughout the entirety of the day today, and knew what he wanted to say on the subject, but when it came time to put fingers to keyboard, the zeal to do so was tempered a bit by knowing that no matter what reality The Gadfly points out here about Donald Trump's very indecent and psychologically disturbed behavior, his core followers, his base -- will deny that reality and sink ever deeper in to the abyss of their cocooned, cult status.

Let's just be very clear about something here dear readers - and this should serve as a precautionary warning - history is replete with examples of cults of personality producing some first rate psychopaths and sadistic totalitarians.  And for anyone to say that it can't happen here is ignoring the evidence that it already is and it's sitting right on our collective door stoops.

Something needs to give here and let's hope that in this Season of Giving, the one who will be doing the giving will be Santa's number one special prosecutor helper Robert Mueller III.

WWHJD? (What Would Horny Jesus Do?) . . .

Oh dear heavens! . . . . what will we tell the chil.... oh, fuck it - nevermind.

Rep. Joe Barton (R-Texas) on Wednesday apologized for a photo that circulated anonymously on social media earlier this week which appeared to show him nude.
“While separated from my second wife, prior to the divorce, I had sexual relationships with other mature adult women. Each was consensual. Those relationships have ended,” he said in a statement Wednesday acknowledging the photo. “I am sorry I did not use better judgment during those days. I am sorry that I let my constituents down.”
The censored photo of his genitals, which was shared by an anonymous Twitter account, along with a text message that used graphic language, appeared to be sent by Barton to a woman he was dating.

All they got to do is just admit that they're lascivious bastards just like the rest of us sexually repressed Americans.  The Gadfly doesn't understand why that has to be such a godawfully difficult thing to do.

Listen dear readers -- it's none of The Gadfly's business if some 68 year old dude wants to text (in this case) consensual pecker pics to his lady friends - that is a private matter between two adults (albeit freaky ones).

What bothers the gadfly the very most about this tired nonsense is that for the better part of the past three decades conservative politicians like this Texas horny-toad, congress-critter clown have built lucrative careers (32 fucking years for Barton) upon their loudly and arrogantly stated premise, that their political party is the chosen party of God, and that their moral values are superior to those of liberals, thereby sanctifying, in their minds, all of their phony, conservative governing policies.

That is what gets an egregiously displeased bumblebee zipping around in The Gadfly's bonnet.

Joe Barton and the rest of these "moral values" preaching Republicans and Tea Partiers are all major league hypocrites, carelessly hurling stones and other heavy objects at others, whom they feel that they have the right to employ their personal religious values to pass judgment on.  They do it all at their own peril in a very fragile, glass house.

And The Gadfly is unrepentant when he tells you that he actually feels pangs of fucking divine joy witnessing the humiliating misery that Joe Barton and some of these other conservative assholes like him are experiencing with all of these sexual improprieties stories going public.  Their shameless hypocrisy has brought such requisite misery upon themselves.  It's about time.

National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster mocked President Trump’s intelligence at a private dinner with a powerful tech CEO, according to five sources with knowledge of the conversation.
Over a July dinner with Oracle CEO Safra Catz — who has been mentioned as a candidate for several potential administration jobs — McMaster bluntly trashed his boss, said the sources, four of whom told BuzzFeed News they heard about the exchange directly from Catz. The top national security official dismissed the president variously as an “idiot” and a “dope” with the intelligence of a “kindergartner,” the sources said.
A sixth source who was not familiar with the details of the dinner told BuzzFeed News that McMaster had made similarly derogatory comments about Trump’s intelligence to him in private, including that the president lacked the necessary brainpower to understand the matters before the National Security Council.

Let's take stock of where we're at now:

Trump's Secretary of State Rex Tillerson referred to dear leader as a "fucking moron." 

There is ample video evidence showing that Trump is incapable of stringing more than 1 or 2 coherent sentences or thoughts together at any given moment.  We also know that he does not read much, more so if the reading material is not about himself.  He prefers not to read his presidential daily briefings, opting instead to be presented with colorful slide shows and charts because he is intellectually incapable of ingesting raw information and processing it in a thoughtful, reasoned and rational adult manner.

And now we have yet another high level cabinet member confirming what all the rest of us who have been paying attention and aren't lying to ourselves know - namely that Donald Trump is indeed a fucking moron.

H.R. McMaster is a career military guy.  Those guys are typically pretty straightforward in their analysis of things and are also very matter-of-fact with their opinions.  The Gadfly would wager good money on McMaster actually having stated these views about Drumpf's cerebral fitness.

And all of this is quite crucial as we simultaneously see some very important people in government actually openly discussing the possible ramifications of being forced to deal with the horror of having a manifestly unfit individual with the power to launch nuclear missiles at his fingertips.

The Gadfly is absolutely fucking stunned that here we are, in the year 2017 and our government "leaders" are actually going to have hearings for the first time in over 40 years and debate the limitations of a U.S. President's authority to launch nuclear weapons.  To The Gadfly, that signifies that they are just as alarmed as every other sane person in this country at Drumpf's erratic and dangerous behavior as the nation's chief executive.

Is anyone else out there paying attention to this shit?  This madness??  Speak up if you are for God's sake.  The future of your country, your lives, your children's and grandchildren's lives so depend on it.

Regarding the ridiculous claim from Donald Dumbass and the right wing conservatives that Hillary Clinton sold 20% of U.S. uranium to the Russians, watch Shepard Smith -- he of Fox "News" -- take a perfectly pinched, steaming hot, Miralax-inspired dump on that manufactured "scandal":

It really is that uncomplicated for anyone that is not predisposed to believe otherwise, or just plain goddamn dumb.  And it has absolutely nothing at fucking all to do with the Russian government interfering with the 2016 United States presidential election -- and apparently deliberately so on behalf of one of the two major party candidates.

Shepard Smith and Chris Wallace are probably the only two on-air talents at Fox who usually do practice fairly "fair and balanced" journalism - The Gadfly has no qualms about issuing that compliment.  The Gadfly can guarantee you though that Smith and Wallace are pretty lonely figures at Fox - not unlike a couple of beans in a boxcar.

They are lonely because there is still obviously a complete competency imbalance at Fox.  The rest of their talking head "stars" and contributors are so batshit right wing insane and nakedly biased with their ideology and politics, that all that is missing for them are the red, white and black armbands emblazoned with dear leader's majestic DT in lieu of the dread Teutonic fylfot.

Shepard and Wallace are token "alternative" voices.  Mustn't be too overt with using the public airwaves for political propagandizing dontcha' know.

So really - don't even bother high-fiving yourself for airing Shepard Smith's accurate reporting Rupert Murdoch -- you're still going straight to fucking hell.

The MORAL of This Story Is . . . Get Some or Go Away . . .

As we haphazardly move forward with this belated national conversation on deviant sexual behaviors by some of our less than honorable male citizenry, let us make a concerted and resolute effort to ensure that people like the "lady" in the photo above, along with the rest of the Drumpf enabling conservatives of similar ethos, are not welcome to participate in that critical discourse.

These are people who, in The Gadfly's Fucking Opinion (TGFO), willfully forfeited the right to add their voice to that important discussion the very moment that they cast a vote for the admitted Pussy Grabber to become the leader and role model for our entire society.  And they've only enforced the justification for assigning absolutely zero value to their views on the subject with their perverse defense of the pedophile Alabama judge and would-be Senator, Roy Moore.

The Gadfly is, quite frankly, pretty inflexible in his thinking that one cannot have a coherent, productive conversation on the subject of morality and moral values with people who have none.

Under the plan, Flynn, who was fired by Trump after just 24 days in the job, and his son, Michael Flynn Jr, were to receive up to $15 million for forcibly removing Fethullah Gulen from his U.S. home and delivering him to the Turkish government, people familiar with the investigation told the Journal.
The alleged plan emerged during Mueller’s wider investigation of possible Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election and any collusion by the Trump campaign.

Conspiring with a foreign nation to commit kidnapping -- for ransom -- inside the borders of this country -- while employed as a "National Security" adviser to the President of The United States . . . . .Hooooooo-wee! ...

The holy-shit stuff that's beginning to get flushed out of Mueller's investigative tree-shaking is starting to fall squarely in to the "high crimes" part of that whole "High Crimes & Misdemeanors" thing.  Wowza.

With last week's indictments, this shit really is just the tip of Robert Mueller's iceberg folks, and Donald Trump and his administration are the corporeal equivalent of the Titanic who have just broadsided that iceberg, which is ripping a gaping hole in the side of their ship, and they're pretty much doomed.  And you know what?  There isn't a goddamn thing that's "fake" about any of that.

For you hardcore Trump supporters -- the game is over.  You've had your little electoral/political tantrum.  But now it's time for the adults to step in to take control of this out of control situation -- so go stand in the corner and count to infinity plus pi -- or something, and let Uncle Bob finish his work.

Certainly there are teachable lessons about lawlessness in every aspect of Drumpf's tainted journey to the Presidency -- although The Gadfly can say with a fair amount of confidence that it wouldn't matter a whit to this Trump bunch and their followers -- but teachable nonetheless.

The existence of the famed Russian “pee tape” may remain shrouded in mystery, but a former bodyguard for President Donald Trump reportedly has confirmed Trump was given the opportunity to host five women in his Moscow hotel room in 2013.
Former director of Oval Office relations Keith Schiller relayed the account in an interview with Congress this week, three sources present for the questioning told NBC News. Before the 2013 Miss Universe Pageant ― which was owned by Trump at the time and took place in Moscow that year ― a Russian participant offered to “send five women” to Trump’s hotel room, Schiller reportedly said.
Schiller, thinking the offer was a joke, responded, “We don’t do that type of stuff,” two of the sources told NBC. He discussed the conversation with Trump while walking him to his hotel room that night and they both laughed about it before Trump went to bed alone, two of the sources also said.

Leigh Corfman, now 53, said she met GOP candidate Roy Moore when he offered to watch her during her mother's child custody hearing. Moore, at the time, served as an assistant district attorney.

Apparently for this obnoxiously pious, bible-thumping Ten Commandments humper, the fact that there was no eleventh commandment proclaiming it a sinful act to lustily covet your neighbor's 14 year old daughters was likely the justification in his mind.

Fox News star host Sean Hannity on Wednesday announced that the network has hired Sebastian Gorka, formerly deputy assistant to President Donald Trump and a counterterrorism adviser, as a national security strategist.
“Joining us now is Dr. Sebastian Gorka,” Hannity said on his radio show. “I can officially announce today he is a Fox News national security strategist.”
“It’s in large part, really, thanks to you, Sean,” Gorka replied. “You’ve been a great supporter, not only of myself, but of the administration and the President, and it’s great to be back as part of the superb Fox family.”
A Fox spokesperson confirmed to TPM by email that the network has hired Gorka for that position.

They're bragging about hiring an actual Nazi.  No-no-no-no dear readers, The Gadfly joshes you not... a real, authentic fucking Nazi.

This Swastika loving asshole was even too toxic for Drumpf to have hanging around the White House - mostly because he was horndogging in on Steve Bannon and Stephen Miller's alt-right gravy train.  And Fox "News" couldn't wait to snatch him up and plaster his stupid fucking Nazi face all over the airwaves.  Add to that, Gorka's credentials in the field of "counterterrorism" are considered by a lot of distinguished experts to be fraudulent.

This clown will be a true disinformation/misinformation influence on Fox viewers, whom study after study has shown, are already the most misinformed group of news consumers in the country.  The last thing that group needs is to have more dogmatic gobbledegook stuffed down their turkey-like gullets -- they don't need any help becoming even more misinformed for fuck sake!

There Comes A Time When That Boil On Your Ass Just Needs to be Lanced...

They are an infected, festering pustule on the pimpled ass of the body politic:

WASHINGTON ― Authorities are still trying to figure out why a man shot at least 26 people to death in a Texas church on Sunday.
But the lack of a specific motive has not stopped right-wing conspiracy theorists from blaming their opponents — including Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), atheists, social justice warriors, communists, the Islamic State, liberals and anti-fascist protesters — for the slaughter.
The speed at which these theories spread shows how propagandists take advantage of the information vacuum after a shooting to serve their own ends.
The shooting was not racially motivated or caused by religious beliefs, authorities said Monday, though they noted there was a “domestic situation.” (The suspect, Devin Patrick Kelley, was previously convicted for domestic assault.) But in the hours after the shooting, the public didn’t know that. Instead, conspiracy theorists took what shreds of information were available to peddle plausible-sounding theories — or simply make up lies.

The right wing media loons (the aforementioned festering pustules) were breathlessly proclaiming that this past weekend Antifa was going to stage nation-wide, violent demonstrations as the beginning of their effort to overthrow Trump (of course it didn't happen).

They were also peddling assertions that the person who beat up Kentucky GOP senator Rand Paul in his residential yard was a liberal, Antifa sympathizer and the attack politically motivated (he wasn't - and it wasn't).  Paul and his neighbor - another doctor - had been feuding for years over shrubbery and leaves on each other's lawns -- but why let the truth interfere with a good fear-mongering lie right?

And before we go any further -- no! . . this is not a dirty fucking liberal hippie defense of Antifa.  They are not the point of this post goddammit!

The Gadfly's point here is about who the right wing media is.  Well here's who they are -- they're all fucking fraudulent nut jobs and ethically challenged people who in reality are the prime contributors to this disturbing national illness of proud and belligerent stupidity that presently plagues our society.  They've created their own sheltered world of "alternative facts" and "fake news" and manufactured enemies, and they are gleefully wallowing in it.   They are anti-facts, anti-reality, anti-intellectual, anti-science, anti-reason, and anti-humanity -- and as long as being that way annoys the dirty fucking hippie liberals, they are genuinely happy about it - completely failing to acknowledge, of course, the presumption that being all of those aforementioned anti-bots also makes for being a pretty fucking lousy human being.

Is it any wonder that America's long-standing democratic allies are pulling back from us and wondering out loud as to whether America is even a reliable partner anymore in the quest to expand western democracy?  Are Trump, Breitbart, Fox & Friends and George Papadopolous truly the best that the United States of America has to give to the world?

What our allies are beginning to see is a country that has abdicated it's role as the strongest and most trusted democracy on the planet by permitting the lunatics to take over the asylum.  We even installed a hopelessly corrupt, narcissistic reality tv show ignoramus and sex pervert with a Russia fetish as our leader.  That's what our allies are starting to see.   What America's enemies see, on the other hand, is opportunity, and The Gadfly should not have to explain to you what that opportunity could be.  Nonetheless - what could possibly go wrong with all that - right?

And social media has been and still is the drug delivery method-of-choice for the right-wing conservative bullshit machine to spread their mad-cow diseased ideological propaganda.  The Gadfly sees it all the time -- even among some friends and family members.  The incessant sharing on Facebook of these absurd internet "news" stories, and fact-free political memes and black helicopter, gobble-dee-gook YouTube videos.  And they are all completely clueless or uncaring about the likelihood of the garbage that they are sharing having been created by some Russian or Eastern European troll farm.  And before you know it, it's getting distributed via conservative, carnival barking "news" outlets like AM talk radio, Breitbart, the insipid InfoWars and yes - even Fox "News."  And they pass this toxic misinformation and lies around like it's a meth pipe.  It's just downright disheartening to see some times.

Anyhow -- this is why it is maddening as hell for The Gadfly to see all of this occurring because he knows that at present there is neither sufficient courage, or a majority will of the citizenry to seriously confront and effectively combat it.  But The Gadfly gets it -- he knows -- hell, there isn't a magic pill made that you can give someone that will fix dumb and gullible -- or cruel and hateful -- the history of mankind has demonstrated that to us very clearly over and over again.

Quite honestly though, what is really keeping The Gadfly awake some nights is the obvious question -- will dumb and gullible ultimately triumph over informed and rational and if it does - what becomes of not only the informed and rational people, but the nation's and democracy's futures as well?

It has occurred to The Gadfly that Bub Mueller is doing the old Sgt. Field of Delusions . . . Build It and They Will Come . . . .

What a depressing peek into the window of a closed-minded, reality-denying segment of American society.  These are people who have actually convinced themselves that Donald J. Trump, the P.T. Barnum of leisure-class real estate, the Elmer Gantry of populist poppycock . . . is  the great white savior of God's chosen hoi polloi, who with a simple wave of his stubby fingered hands, is going to magically revitalize one of the dirtiest, most environmentally damaging, slowly and deservedly dying, industries on the planet, and create oodles of jobs that will keep them all gainfully employed and economically sustain their families and communities for decades to come.

This is what a cult of mass delusion looks like dear readers.

When The Gadfly first saw that picture the summer of 2016, it sent an unpleasant shiver down his spine.  It reminded The Gadfly of some 1930's documentary news reels he'd seen long ago which revisited the history of another great Anglo Saxon savior who was going to deliver his beloved people and divine nation from the hordes of filthy immigrants, pointy-head liberal elites and impure bloodlines.

We know how that turned out - don't we?
