The Wrongness of Being Right . . . . The NeverEnding Story . . .

[ Click Pic For Large Version ]

You want to know dear reader why The Gadfly is so perturbed about some of these wingnut Republicans crying crocodile tears over Nelson Mandela's passing?

It is because it is simply more convincing evidence, piled on top of tons of already convincing evidence, that at nearly every juncture, and on nearly every issue of major importance of the American story, right wing conservatives have consistently been on the wrong side of history. And by wrong side, The Gadfly is talking about the side that has been unequivocally intellectually, spiritually and morally wrong -- over and over and over again.

And it is not just that conservative rightists were wrong about supporting apartheid in South Africa and keeping Nelson Mandela imprisoned.  It goes back and beyond much further than that. They were mightily wrong about their defense of slavery which culminated in the Civil War which tore the country apart.  They were wrong about child labor laws and deadly factory conditions in the early 1900's.  They were wrong about allowing American women the right to vote. They were sadly wrong about civil rights.  They were wrong about minimum wage laws and worker's rights. They were wrong about Social Security and Medicare. They were wrong about Vietnam.  They were, and still are wrong about environmental protections.  They were wrong about not focusing on Al-Qaeda when Bush came in to office.  They were wrong about invading Iraq.  They were wrong about escalating the war in Afghanistan.  They were wrong about TARP.  They are wrong about sensible gun control - and if you don't think so, ask one of the Sandy Hook 1st graders how they feel about it - oh that's right - you can't because they're fucking dead!  They are wrong about giving increasingly more economic breaks to the top 1% of income earners.  They are wrong about the war on drugs.  They are wrong about allowing the disastrous and failed health care system in this country to continue as it is.  And they are wrong about this:

Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-CA) said Wednesday that if the U.S. needs to use the military option against Iran, America should deploy its "tactical nuclear devices."
"I think if you have to hit Iran, you don't put boots on the ground. You do it with tactical nuclear devices, and you set them back a decade or two or three," Hunter said in an interview with C-SPAN. "I think that's the way to do it -- with a massive aerial bombardment campaign."

Fucking geniuses!

And before The Gadfly comments further -- let's get something fucking straight right goddamn now -- there is no such thing as a "tactical" nuclear device.  Tactical is a useless word when you are talking about a weapon of such fearsome power.  It's a fucking nuclear fucking bomb!  When it goes off it incinerates just about everything within a 10-15 mile radius.  It will cause additional mass casualties due to peripheral damage in about a 30 mile radius.  Don't believe The Gadfly?  Click this link and go play.  Go blow up your own city, or the city of the NFL football team you hate the most and see how it turns out.  And the fallout?  Well, depending on which way the wind might be blowing the day you decide to drop your "tactical device" it could result in millions more of the "enemy" being fatally poisoned by radiation, or, millions of your very own friends and allies suffering the same.  And hell, who knows if it will prompt the other dozen or so nuclear-armed countries in the world to let loose with their arsenals as well.

You see? -- it's so simple.  All America needs to do to solve their differences with Iran is to "deploy it's "tactical nuclear devices."  And all will be well with the world.

This is the fucking demented mindset of these lunatics that we are dealing with folks.

The Gadfly has a question.  How long and how often does a political/ideological movement get to be so fucking destructively wrong before we just simply stop allowing them a seat at the table of the national discourse to determine the path of the nation's future?  Huh?  Huh??  The Gadfly would truly like an answer to that question.

Nonetheless, The Gadfly is committed to continue talking about this shit dear readers, because as much as most people do not even want to think about things like this, The Gadfly feels his voice matters, whether the fucking assholes running this country think so or not.  And he isn't about to shut his mouth.
