WASHINGTON ― An anti-government extremist was arrested by the FBI on Friday for allegedly trying to detonate what he thought was a 1,000-pound bomb outside a bank in Oklahoma City.
Jerry Drake Varnell, 23, was charged with malicious attempted destruction of a building. He was arrested in a FBI sting after he allegedly tried to set off what he thought was a bomb in a cargo van that he’d parked by the loading dock of the BancFirst bank, according to federal court filings.
“What happened in Oklahoma city was not an attack on America, it was retaliation,” Varnell allegedly wrote in a message he wanted posted on Facebook after the bombing.

This is the kind of individual that Drumpf is giving aide and comfort to with his coddling of the alt-right cowards.

That is a picture of Oklahoma City Fire Department member Chris Fields cradling a mortally injured toddler who was one of Timothy McVeigh's "retaliation" victims of his April 19, 1995 bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in downtown Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
That little 1 year old baby was one of 19 toddlers and babies along with 150 other Americans whose lives were snuffed out in an instant because some right wing assholes wanted "retaliation" for --- who the fuck knows? --- the grievances these losers have are as malleable on a day-to-day basis as the mush inside their musty cranial cavities.
A lot of these alt-right and militia twats have openly expressed admiration for Timothy McVeigh and his depraved deed. Take another look - please, do it - at that picture of fireman Chris Fields tenderly carrying that dying child's mangled body and then ask yourself what kind of person would express admiration for the individual(s) who were responsible for that sick inhumanity.
Thank the gods that be that the FBI caught wind of this fuck-stick Jerry Drake Varnell's "retaliation" plans and prevented him from perpetrating yet another right-wing mass murder event.
There is a dark, horrifying sickness that is the lifeblood of this modern-day conservative movement and it is not going to go away quietly - that they have made clear.
Nazis, KKK, white supremacists and just plain old racists have hijacked the Republican party and traditional, honorable conservatism. The Tea Party was employed as the ramming vehicle that the right wing used to bust down the doors of the mainstream GOP garrison, and once that door was open, they let in every slimy right-wing, bigoted and hate-mongering group that had been hiding in caves and under rocks (where they rightly belong) for many years where they were just waiting for their Aryan savior to come along and lend recognition and legitimacy to their pestilential ideology.
And it is quite clear now that Drumpf is indeed the white-power savior that they have desperately hungered for. Drumpf's own words are glaring in their intent to show deference to the alt-right cretins - pithy protestations to the contrary.
Dear readers -- you all had better start paying much closer attention to this shit. These people, like their Muslim Jihadi counterparts on the other side of the world, have shown they are more than willing to murder innocents in the name of their ideology. If people don't start speaking up and joining together as a force of good to combat this evil in our midst, it really is just a matter of time before another Oklahoma City slaughter happens - and who knows, maybe the next one will be in your city, or perhaps The Gadfly's.
Speak up, speak out -- even if it risks offending friends and family. To sit back in timorous quietude is the equivalent of being a passive accomplice to these alt-right goons and their toxic, ass backward worldviews. The values and morals of a decent people and a decent society demand it.
