“Oh, what a tangled web we weave...when first we practice to deceive.” ― Walter Scott, 'Marmion'

Oh this is just rich beyond exquisiteness . . . .

The conservative Media Research Center often urges liberal news outlets to TELL THE TRUTH, but the Reston, VA-based press watchdog isn’t telling the truth about its own leader: Brent Bozell doesn’t write the syndicated column that appears under his byline.
It is longtime MRC media analysis director Tim Graham who writes “almost everything published under [Bozell's] name,” a former MRC employee tells me in an email. “That includes his weekly column. Same goes for his books, which at least carry Graham’s name in a secondary billing, but also aren’t written by Bozell (but Bozell keeps 80-90% of the advance and all profits!)”
Two other people with ties to MRC confirmed that Graham is Bozell’s ghostwriter – and that Graham is not happy with the assignment.
“Tim just resents having to do it,” says a former employee.
Graham’s wife, too, is so angry about the arrangement that she refuses to attend Media Research Center events.
“She hates Bozell,” I’m told. “The forced ghostwriting is the issue,” says an ex-employee.

Most of you dear readers likely do not know who Brent Bozell is.  That is understandable - especially if you have not been following politics over the past many years as The Gadfly has.

Brent Bozell, mostly through the creation of his media analysis company, 'The Media Research Center', or MRC, has been peddling his snake oil around in conservative media circles for over a decade, and in fact has manufactured quite a lucrative career out of his self-appointed role of "media watchdog" - a role which typically has him spewing bile in print and on television (he's a longtime Fox "News" contributor) whenever he perceives in the deepest, darkest confines of his own paranoid schizophrenic brain that the traditional media, and by proxy all liberals, are conspiring to persecute him and his fellow right-wing conservatives.

The Gadfly knows well of Brent Bozell as The Gadfly himself has been blogging for just over a decade now and has had the unfortunate task of reading some of Bozell's sniveling and juvenile rants over the years and even on occasion responding to them on his own shitty little blog.

A perennial theme throughout Bozell's self-inflated "career" is his penchant for questioning the honesty and accuracy of the journalism as practiced by we dirty-fucking-hippie progressives.

Therefore - oh and it comes as no surprise - it is quite delicious to find out that Mr. Bozell's own syndicated column, with a byline identifying Brent Bozell as the author, and which is printed in outlets across the spectrum of the conservative media empire, is in fact not written by Mr. Bozell.  It is ghost-written by one of his underling lackeys.

And the even more delicious irony part of this story -- the ghost writing lackey appears, by virtue of being stiffed by Mr. Bozell both in monetary terms as well as literary credit terms, is not very happy these days about playing the part of Brent Bozell's lapdog stooge and as such has been hinting through fellow MRC staff that he is about ready to publicly spill the beans about what a big, unscrupulous phony his boss is.

But you know what?  This is modern-day conservatism in a nutshell folks -- fraudulent, dishonest, self-serving, snide.  All of which should make you, dear readers, ask the question of yourselves -- if these people have no compunction about being this shallow and conniving when it comes to their media, what makes you think they will not be just as deceitful if you put them in a position of political power and hand them governing responsibilities?

Keep that question in the back of your mind the next time you enter the voting booth.
