The Never Ending Battle . . . .

If there truly is a merciful, loving, peaceful God with a wicked sense of humor, The Gadfly could most definitely believe that he/she would be the culprit behind a Karmic event such as this:

First up from the God Machine this week is a story out of Texas, where a megachurch's leaders are starting to regret preaching against vaccinations.
Officially, measles has been eradicated in the Western Hemisphere, but incidents like these still occur:
The latest measles outbreak is in Texas, where the virus has sickened 25 people, most of whom are members or visitors of a church led by the daughter of televangelist Kenneth Copeland.
Fifteen of the measles cases are centered around Eagle Mountain International Church in Newark, Texas, whose senior pastor, Terri Pearsons, has previously been critical of measles vaccinations.

Sigh.  Here we are as a species, racing toward the next century, and we still have the flat earth brigades preaching long disproved nonsense to their sheep.  No fucking wonder, that instead of human progress making meaningful strides toward a better world for all, we are stuck treading water while re-fighting the dogmatic religious conflicts of the last 500 years.

And is it any shock that it's a group out of Texas?  Reminds The Gadfly of a quote from the Movie 'Geronimo: An American Legend'.  Robert Duvall's character Al Sieber is confronting a group of rogue bounty hunters who have slaughtered women and children in a peaceful village.  And in his quote, you get the strong impression that he has little respect for Texas and some of it's citizens:

Al Sieber, Chief of Scouts:There's two dead women there...and two little kids. They scalped them all, all four of 'em. Bounty hunters. The government down here pays 200 pesos a head for women, 100 for women and 50 for those kids. They kill any Indian and then claim they are Apache. I don't see how any man can sink so low. Must be Texans...the lowest form of white man there is.

Even back then Texas had a reputation that rubbed people the wrong way.  Lol.
